// Cosplay is one of the most interesting aspects of Anime culture. Whether it's on social media or at a Con, it's amazing to see how effort and though people but into their costumes. I've wanted to cosplay as well but never have either because I'm too tall, my skin tone isn't the same, my personality isn't like the character's and so on.

What do you guys think? Should people only cosplay as characters that they look similar to? Are their certain rules about cosplay they people should know? Or do you believe that's wrong? That it's a way to express yourself and people should be able to do it freely and without judgment.

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

As long as the person is enjoying themselves, either by making the costume and going full on cosplay or if someone just dresses up a little bit and attends the convention for the hell of it with a bought costume then thats all that matters honestly.

Personality shouldn't play a part in what you chose to cosplay as.

Its no different from halloween when you have people dress up in whatever they feel like.

So not awake...

Look up most any successful cosplayer and they all usually have their own speel about how there aren't any "rules of cosplay". XD

If you're trying for hardcore competitions and such, then you may want to worry about things like being in character. But for the most part, cosplay usually entails making yourself resemble someone you wouldn't otherwise.

It's for fun. So have fun. Spazz out over your nerdy obsessions and just be happy with your cosplay. You don't have to already be the character.

Not to sound rude or anything... But you clearly don't understand cosplay... Cosplay is about having fun with your friends and other fans of a certain anime, game or movie... And it's not about a certain skin color, length, body weight or gender. I've seen men cosplay woman charterers on cons and wise verse, I've also seem dark skinned people cosplay white skinned characters and vise verse.

personally believe you should cosplay characters you like...

I wanna cosplay as En Yufuin from Cute High, and I look nothing like him lol... I don't even have the height. (It would be better if I cosplay as the other guys, because they're short)... but like En-chan is like my fav character from the series...

and like cuz his skin is light, i'll have to wear a paler foundation lol... but not too light, cuz then it would look like I have two different skin colour >_>;;;

i'm also planning to buy those $1 bubbles sticks... to use as my wand... and blow bubbles at a convention lolololol. i'm so excited, I can't wait to make myself and other people laugh.

Skin color/height/build shouldn't be a big deal, especially if you're just having fun dressing up as a character you like.
