Saying you want to rape a rape victim even in jest is not a joke or satire. No matter what it is making light of rape, which is a serious issue and it is making fun of a victim of traumatic events. If you find these kinds of jokes funny, you're probably a pretty shitty person and are perpetuating "Rape-culture" (look it up and become well-informed).

So...the creator of the thread does not like the channels, and when people say they do, he responds negatively? (If I read through this correctly?) Anyway, Gulliver's Travels, The Canterbury Tales, and The Prince are some great satire books to read...:D

Everyone has a different sense of humor, but if someone enjoys something, don't bash that.

Edit: Also, the reason those people are still popular may be because the ones watching/reading/doing whatever to follow them enjoy the humor used by them.

I laughed /too/ hard at this comment. Nico ftw~

Anyways, as for this topic, the internet will be the internet. Even though I don't agree with the message these guys are sending, they have a right to free speech.

Is it possible they are just playing off all the Bill Cosby malarkey? I don't follow any internet "celebrities" so this is just speculation.

That your opinion of what is satire or funny, what you find funny other will not find it funny.
And saying

pretty shitty person

Is condescending and arrogant.

Also you are failing a getting the context of a situation. Saying you want to do something bad does't make somebody a bad person, it only make them honest people.

And before you go and say I find rape funny I tell you I do not, for me it will depend of the context of the joke or situation.

If exist people will find a way to make fun of it one way or another.

As long as they're not harming anyone or promoting harm, I too do not see a reason to pay attention to these human beings, no matter how shitty they may be.

As for the jokes, humor is subjective. Please remember that your opinion on what is funny and what is not is not fact. As for rape culture, I think some jests are fine, but overdoing it does contribute to rape culture, which prevents many victims from speaking out. That being said, why not ban violent images on TV? Violent images have been known to contribute to higher levels of aggression. I guess what I am trying to say is that rape jokes can be okay or well made.

Trying to define a standard for what is funny and what is not is tantamount to authoritarianism.

When you make jokes about rape it puts the idea that rape is funny or somewhat acceptable out there and rapists get self-justification out of it. They get a sense of "oh well they make jokes and talk about raping people, so im normal as well" or "this guy is well known and respected and jokes about rape or raping people, so i must not be a bad person for liking rape"

joking about rape like it isn't a big deal IS harmful to rape victims whether you find it funny or not, so saying it's not harmful is kinda a stretch.

What part of rape does anyone find funny? please elaborate.

also obviously, in a forum, posting on a thread for DISCUSSION, everything i state can be assumed as me stating my opinion. so for those of you criticizing everything i said as if i was stating as a fact are being thoughtless and ridiculous.

People make jokes out of everything. Not just rape. People make jokes out of murder, and just violence in general. Why shouldn't that be an untouchable subject to joke about either? People joke about euthanasia and it doesn't produce this big of a reaction. Hell, people have made jokes about abortion, and while arguably more controversial than the previous two, it still doesn't get people as sensitive as rape jokes. Rapists aren't going to be deterred by comedians, or anyone in general, refusing to joke about rape. Non-rapists aren't going to suddenly change their morals because people joke about it.

There are plenty of subjects that people joke about that, alone, aren't funny subjects.

I'm not saying rape is in any way funny, but I just feel as if setting it apart from other issues, as one that shouldn't be talked about lightly in any context, only perpetuates its extreme taboo nature, and would likely just continue to prevent victims from coming forward. Yes, it's a horrible thing, but you don't tackle horrible things by not talking about them. Insensitive as it may be to talk about it in a joking sense, it's still better than just shutting it out and refusing to even talk about or acknowledge it.
