Just wondering if anyone here on the forums could help me out...
Does anyone know any pretty obscure/underrated or little known anime or manga that they would reccomend for me?

I really enjoy things such as Black Butler, death note, mekaku city actors/Kagerou Daze, kimi to boku, soul eater, black rock shooter, madoka magica, nichijou, k-on, baka and test, no game no life, another, devil survivor 2, Un-go, e.t.c.
I am a fan of both slice of life and "fun" anime as well as mystery and darker anime, as long as it isn't too dark or gory (I had to cover my eyes a bit in Another)...I'm not into pure action or mecha series.

I am also kinda picky about animation, as you can probably tell from my previous sections, so yeah anything that has nice animation/drawings such as previous titles
I'm looking for stuff that not everyone knows about, and that is overall enjoyable despite it's flaws.

Sorry to bother everyone with this

Thank you

Hmmm. I am going pretty off tangent from what you're asking...but you can give Kaiji a shot

Ok, I'm only saying this cuz I was about to watch an episode. It's animated by Madhouse, who did Death Note and No Game No Life. It's kinda dark, and it's pretty tense in a sorta Death Note-ish way. And it's about gambling. The strategies are really smart too.

I really liked Karasuma Kyoko no Jikenbo, would like to see it continued. It probably will not be to your taste and i don't care if you try it or not.

Edit: lol ninja mods moved it

As far as recomendations go:
If you liked Madoka, you might like the monogatari series, it's by the same animation studio (Shaft) and is very good. It is an ecchi, but its not totally over the top, and most of the time its more funny than anything else. Here is a link to the first season Bakemonogatari.
I feel like i always recomend this show, but as far as dark shows go, you can't go wrong with Shinsekai Yori.
for slice of life shows, I watch a lot of comedies, so here are some that I liked: http://www.crunchyroll.com/wagnaria, http://www.crunchyroll.com/i-cant-understand-what-my-husband-is-saying, http://www.crunchyroll.com/sabagebu-survival-game-club-.

Yes, Shin Sekai Yori. I don't understand why this show isn't more popular. I thought it was well done, especially for its genre. I also really like dystopian fiction so I may be biased. No. 6 is another dystopian fiction.

Dramatical Murder is another that might be worth a shot. It's pretty and the plot is fairly good.

A show with a similar feel to Madoka but darker is WIXOSS. Personally, I enjoyed it more than Madoka. You can watch it on Funimation.

EDIT: thought of another. Hamatora.

I'd give Fractale and Outbreak Company a shot.
Both are only 12 episodes and are just fun romps for the most part. Fractale is probably the more serious of the two, but OB has a pretty great plot twist that really works well with the show's themes.

Kyousougiga, don't think I've ever spoken to someone who had seen it, and it's the only 5-star review I've given yet for stuff on CR. Great fun but with meaning too, and visually delicious.

Glad to see that Shwuishu got in a Kaiji recommendation in the first reply :P, drawings won't be for everyone and there's very little in the way of animation, but it's definitely worth a go. If you like that, go on to Akagi.

Hyouge Mono is definitely quite obscure and worth it if you're into the Sengoku period, Japanese culture, self-conscious humour, taste and personal ethics. Revolves around an ambitious retainer aspiring to greatness in the worlds of both warfare and aesthetics, two seemingly conflicting ideals. I think fans of Samurai Champloo would quite like it even though it's very different.
