Post Reply What anime site do you use outside of crunchyroll?
Posted 3/22/15
I use animelab.

and sometimes Youtube... (from the legal publishers lol)... like funimation sometimes put stuff on youtube that can be accessed from Australia. and there are a few other publishers who put their anime on youtube. you just have to know their names like Nozomi or something.

Amazon's selection of anime is getting marginally better. Some of the "older" stuff is available on Prime (older being relative). They seem to pick up quite a few Funi titles lately. Some are dubbed, some are "original". It's kind of a hit-or-miss, but it's still fun to browse their selection.

Oh that's right. I never even think of them, even though I have Prime and did watch Clannad there.

I use CR mainly, but also FUNimation, and occasionally Hulu for shows not on either. I also have The Anime Network on demand for free via cable provider. Daisuki also has a few exclusives. Anime Sols is great for a few old classics. That covers the vast majority of anime from the last 5 years or so. For everything else it is either hunt down the discs or dark side.

I use CR most often, followed by Funi. Then Hulu/Netfilx rarely after that, even though the combination of the first two gets you most everything besides Viz and Anime Network.

I use CR, Funimation, Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime, of which I am a paid subscriber of all. Amazon Prime has a pretty lousy selection, but they are the only place you can watch Special A, so they have that going for them. I use Youtube as well, there are some publishers that post some of their shows on Youtube. Even with all those streaming services, they only have a fraction of anime.

Pretty much just Hulu ~ but also YouTube on occasion (there are some companies that stream a few shows over there, like Nozomi Entertainment).

Oddly enough, I just don't use Funimation. Everything I want to see from them, they tend to put up on Hulu as well as their own site. Not sure if it's good or bad that they do that... gives me little incentive to actually go to their site lol.

I used Netflix a bit while I still had it, too.

That's about all I use ~ and in terms of simulcasts, i've been able to see pretty much everything i've ever wanted except 2 or 3 shows.

The Anime Network will get you Sentai Filmworks
Neon Alley will get you a partial of the dubs and i think all of their subs and its free.

Funimation, Hulu, and Youtube on publisher channels or other Funi shows I don't feel like watching on their site.

While the subject of what sites and the subject of piracy in-general is usually a confusing one filled with lots of confusing specifics (Often I feel the main problem is somewhere between what's 'legal' and underlying philosophy, in addition to how supply/demand works in the modern age and the argument that localization and availability are complicated as well), I feel things have done well recently.

Most of what you'd want to find is either here on Crunchyroll or on Funimation's youtube channel, and with a few exceptions (Mine would have to be the old Detective Conan episodes so I can get to the ones on CR) you rarely have to delve into the dark side to find stuff these days.

Visual Novels are still on the way though, and while we have Grisaia and Clannad coming to steam within the next year or so we're still in a position where we can't really get them at all without going through that end of the net.

Things are getting better, though. The legal sites should be enough to get whatever you're looking for 99% percent of the time. There's stuff like Amagi and Detective Conan as I mentioned earlier, and I heard one of the Macross movies/series has been having complications for the past decade (I'm actually quite unversed in their mythos ><;; ), but those are the exceptions rather than the rule. A quick google search should solve all your problems quite readily

I'm currently subscribed to funimation right now. I have also used Netflix, Hulu, Anime Network(even paid for the premium subscription for some dumb reason looking back on it), Amazon Prime (which is very limited buy has some older obscure shows) and I am really digging the Daisuki App.
