My main "go to" sites are Crunchyroll, Funimation and Hulu. My backup sites are The Anime Network (on my tv too), Daisuke, Aniplex America and Viki. All legal sites from what I know. I used to also use Neon Alley but haven't been there in a while.

My list of other sites pretty much covers the gamut of all legal sources, and although Funimation is second to CR, it is far ahead of the others. Those others include The Anime Network, legal channels on YouTube (e.g. GundamInfo, Nozomi Entertainment), Daisuki, Manga Entertainment (primarily on my Roku), Netflix, and Hulu.

Hulu brings up the rear as they seem to have to most commercials of all the sites that don't have a commercial free subscription (although Manga Entertainment was a close second the last time I used it). Daisuki certainly increased their number of ads after the ownership switched. The only reason Netflix is near the end is because they have little anime that wasn't available on of the other sites I subscribe to first.

I also check out Crackle and Viewster from time to time, but I haven't viewed anything at the former in a while, and nothing yet at the latter. (Users in Europe should keep an eye on Viewster, however, as they sometimes make available programming that Funimation nabs here).

When you view Aniplex America or Neon Alley, you're actually viewing Hulu.

I should've realized sooner due to the similarity of skins. Thank you for pointing it out to me.

I heard we're finally getting The Anime Network on the Roku sometime this month or next. Supposedly it'll offer more than what's on Hulu but we'll have to wait and see. It seems they shipped out some DVD sets earlier than street date and they included an ad for the Roku Channel. It shipped 3 weeks early. They said they planned on having the Channel up by the time the discs shipped. So it should be anytime now.

Their Roku app is easy to use, however. It doesn't have a queue yet, but that is supposed to be coming.

I've seen it proposed before that CR should use Hulu embeds for shows they don't have. While it don't know if it would contribute anything to income, it would help keep US users on the site.

On the downside, I'm sure it would also generate problems, such a premium users asking why they were getting ads on some shows, and users outside the US claiming CR was giving US users even more shows.

I'm looking forward to TAN's Roku app. Since they may have to re-encode episodes for it, it will be curious to see if it will fix the problem of some older shows (such as the original To Love-ru series) being window boxed in fullscreen when using their online viewer.

TAN uses hulu embeds and doesnt have ads for premium. Why would cr be any different?

Because the only Hulu embeds TAN uses are the ones for their own shows, just as Funimation does. CR couldn't provide ad-free versions of Hulu shows for premium users if they were only using it for shows they don't have a license to.

BTW, if one is in Canada, both sites use their own viewer for non-subscribers, while Viz/Neon Alley just leaves Canadians out in the cold.

Anime sites outside of Crunchyroll?I'm unaware of the existence of any extra legal unlicensed sites, and if I was, I wouldn't be disposed to talk about them here.....Sir! Plug anime into a search engine.

I'm thankful that Crunchyroll exist, because they stream internationally. I barely use any others.
Funimation only for Tokyo Ghoul, bc as far as I know, CR doesn't have it.

Btw, just curious where do people legally watch Nanatsu no Taizai?
It's nowhere, lol.

Doesn't look like it has been picked up by a studio outside of Japan yet, so thats probably the reason.

The rumor is that Netflix picked it up, but there has been no news of an announcement or even an English Dub cast and the show is almost over.

Other than CR, I use FUNi, Netflix and Hulu.
FUNi gets some good simulcasts, like Assassination Classroom and Death Parade. They also have a pretty good catalog. I got used to the website, and the HTML5 player is a huge plus. Do not buy the iOS app, the website has all the videos (the app, even the paid version, logged into a subscribed account, is missing some), better AirPlay support and less crashes.

Netflix has been getting more Anime movies lately, two Naruto and two Bleach movies and they've had a FMA one for awhile.

Hulu has by far the biggest selection, since they have the combined collections of Neon Alley, FUNimaton, Aniplex Channel, Anime Network and others. I've occasionally found movies there too. Movies on Hulu do not have ads, at least for Plus members.

I once watched Special A on Amazon Prime though watched the second half on Hulu when my Prime ended (though it seems to have expired from Hulu now).
