I'm a little surprised no one's mentioned Accel World yet.

I liked the concept, but every time the main character would go off on his internal 'no one should like me, I'm worthless and can't understand why she likes me' tirade I would nearly bite through my tongue. Plus the whole accel ability in the real world which is used rarely by anyone who isn't a colossal douchebag.

Sword Art Online was fine except for the second part of the first series where everyone's been through eighteen kinds of hell but WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

I won't go into the first great anime glut where companies were buying the rights to anything remotely popular and throwing it out onto VHS as fast as they could.

Someone recommended High School DxD, and I started facepalming as the fanservice just became ridiculous levels of overkill. Not Kill la kill's absurdity where they're mocking it, but total overload to the point I felt like I was being forcefed fanservice through a feeding tube.

What makes me face palm the most is when a show starts off in one genre but morphs into a different one before the end. Like:

Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara (If Her Flag Breaks)

Magikano

Kure-nai

Oreimo

The other generic things that make me face palm is when they wrap up an anime with 12 or 24 episodes but the manga or LN series wasn't completed. Then you end up with a strange nonsensical ending that was in a hurry to wrap up leaving so many loose ends but yet they never continue the anime with another season. i.e. Ending of Skip Beat, Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero, and Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren't They? to name a few.

There's been moments in anime that have made me face palm, with it being so corny/ridiculous.

Infinte Stratos is a prime example of a guilty pleasure anime. So many times that ichika completely misunderstands what's actually going on as well as the fact he gets used by the girls to outdo the others.

There's plenty of bad anime where your left face palming about why you watched it in the first place. There's too many to list though.

Hey, second post.

For me it's the overly unrealistic harem animes. Like Aria: World Break... when the male lead gets a French kiss from a strange girl, not 1 minute into the show................ And then following that, ALL IN THE SAME EP, so much unrealistic sexual situations... AND LOL, that same strange girl RANDOMLY WITHOUT EVEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE ANY EXCUSE AT ALL, places his face in her boobs. Like it wasn't even an accident :D, or whatever. LITERALLY INTENTIONAL, and totally unrealistic. The facepalm epic. The same applies for Pet Girl Sakura - she gets naked and the male lead sees her oh too quickly -_-, and then she starts straddling him too. Kinda made me stop watching the show... oh and they end up in a love hotel too........ I dunno, just so unrealistic

But, for Aria, NO ONE should give up on that anime. All the ridiculous fan service WILL MAKE SENSE. Even if it starts out unrealistic, IT BECOMES oh so explained, and plausibly too!!!

I wish there were more seinen animes around, like in college or senior highschool.

I've never been able to enjoy the silliness of "My first kiss!" lines and scenarios. I find them deeply steeped in lack of self confidence (something I am very much against, given my personality).

On the other hand, the idea of them is to provide a path for self realization. A 'coming of age' feel. Even a little humor. Thus, I understand them.

Cross Ange, comes to mind as an anime that's very strange. Let's forgo the general setting, dragons vs Norms vs Mana users. That anime has predominant lesbianism between secondary characters. No hiding it, no disambiguation.

But, we can't have an adult relationship between the main protagonist and her guy? It always stops at a kiss, or almost kiss.
I guess it's a running gag, but given how many people die in extremely large splashes of blood, how pre-teen children are gunned down like cattle, without censoring, I can't help the feeling of 'facepalm'.

I should stick to romantic comedies.

That would make for an interesting twist for the genre. The confidence thing though does exist, though most of these stories are built on the stereotypes that are consistent with the genre. Nesikoi is one of the few anime that develops beyond the stereotypes and actually defines the characters while letting them actually develop/grow in the story.

I'd like to see more seinen anime which tackle the characters past high school, or start in high school and progress into the higher educations.

Every harem anime out there has made me facepalm. The amount of cliches one can find in 5 minutes of a single episode is atrocious to say the least. The same could be same for a large majority of romance and comedy anime out there, which is the main reason I stopped watching them.

I think it was called "Moonlight Phase"? (Don't quote me)
But, it started off with an interesting intro with really a really dark, mysterious, and gothic setting. Then it was what? A Cat-eared vampiress... I stayed, trying to watch the story but also, that annoying OP. Ahh.... So much fail. (for me).
