I gotta admit that is a really nice anime, and very educational on its own way. :3

I wonder why this anime is not at any official streaming sites (well, at least on the ones I know...) :-/

It is because it "promotes" alcohol drinking ?

Alright, I just watched the the show in quick succession as these episodes are only two minutes long. After all that, pshuuuu.

Episodes 1-7

Wakako sure has a strange way of eating dinner. She has salmon with the skin, karaage, monkfish liver, sea urchin, skewers with a bazillion types of meat, clams, and now potatoes. And to go along with it, she hits it up with some booze. For only two minutes per episode, this show sure uses its time wisely being like Gourmet Girl Graffiti, minus the overly erotic eating.

Well, I just burned thru the newly posted first 7 episodes, but at 2 minutes a pop, that's not a feat. I guess I was expecting some raging drunk girl, but what I got was a working-class foodie show that likes to point out what drinks pair well with various foods. She's cute, but I guess the art might turn off those who think they're purists. Too bad I'm not a seafood lover, since most of the food here is. I'd probably not do well in Japan. Not allergic or anything, more just poor childhood memories when "fish" meant some generic fried white fish with little to no taste.

ハムカツ(Hamukatsu) is a cutlet of sliced ham. It served with Worcestershire sauce or Soy sauce, and Japanese karashi-Mustard. It goes soooo nicely with beer and syochu. A great B-grade meal.
But, "Hamu Katsudon...?"
That should be a sweet stewed hamukatsu served (with egg and vegetables) on top of a bowl of rice.

The manga readers who loved it? Anyone who appreciates a little odd slice-of-life humor? Not every production is laser targeted.

Episode 8

This time, it's goya chanpuru with beer as Wakako's skin is irritated, so something without too much meat is in order. And there's no better way to do something about that than tasting something from Okinawa. Better with Spam, but this will do.

EP 8 "Goya Chanpuru." / Goya Bitter Melon

Wakako visits an eatery based on Okinawa food and drink ! She chooses Goya Bitter Melon which is made of melon and pork ( Spam ) and Orion beer ( Okinawa ) ! She also wants to drink Awamori ( Okinawa ) All this real fact!

Spam as the Pork

Brief History of SPAM on Okinawa ( Okinawa based )

One of the most popular Okinawan dishes containing SPAM is Goya Chanpuru. This dish consists of chopped up Goya (bitter gourd), tofu, egg and, of course, rectangular cubes of the irresistible SPAM. The word “Chanpuru” is derived from the Indonesian word “campur” meaning “mix”. When eating the dish for lunch or dinner you will need something to wash it down. An Orion beer complements the taste of the Goya Chanpuru perfectly.
