With the launch of the new mini series nightfall, more is being revealed about Commander locke and the nature of what halo 5 will be going in the story.

So far we've had clips from the anniversary edition of Halo 2 confirming the Arbiter is not only back in the story, but as is his voice actor & a divide still present between the remains of the covenant, those who side with the humans & those who still believe the halos are relics of gods.

With the latest trailer, it depicts a sniper round hitting the chief's helmet and smashing to pieces. It is however an interactive video in which you can slow down the bullet, with various engravings made clear. Each reflecting various aspects of the chief's past like his training, the actions he took in saving earth and the destruction of halo. Yet what is interesting is the refer to the chief as a traitor which could be about how halo 4 ended. Yet it could actually refer not to the chief but halsey, who defected from the unsc, upon the truth about the spartans was revealed & she was targeted for execution.

Ultimately this leads the halo story in a whole new direction in which the chief could face a difficult choice in Halo 5.

Thus the chief will probably be far more human than he has been before, with the events of halo 4 questioning his humanity and his role in saving earth.

Really looking forward to this one! I only played through the Halo 4 campaign once and that was the first week it was out so I'll definitely be doing an MCC playthrough prior to Halo 5's launch.

I'm looking forward to this, there's so many routes the game could take and I really want to see which one gets chosen. Hopefully 343i makes this campaign just as good as they did with halo 4. Not looking forward to multiplayer but that's my old halo play style talking, too much crap going on at once.

I was interested until I saw the gameplay. I'm not really liking Halo's new direction. Sprinting was long overdue and I'm fine with that, but some changes speed up Halo and others I'm just not a fan of (ex: hovering while scoped in. Plenty of people jump AND scope in. That tactic is now gone unless you want to be a floating target.).

And while some stuff is opinionated, hell must be frozen if the majority actually LIKE the new weapon designs. Oh DMR waifu what have they done to you?

Two new trailers have been released today. The 1st from Locke's perspective & the other from the chief's perspective.

It hints that the chief has done something that has not only endangered a colony but the whole of humanity in the process. Though Locke seems to have done anything to complete the mission, even endanger civilians.

It also questions the other's motives, that both are doing what they feel is right despite what the other does.

The trailer's depict what appears to be a colony rather than earth. Possibly chief's homeworld, considering the statue there, and deeper meaning to their words. Locke claims to be replacing chief for he is now a threat, turning against everything he fought for/believed in?

It might even hint at a choice part within the game itself. Depending on which character is played or even whom pulls the trigger?

Though I'd more accurately gauge that they'll come to blows but end up needing one another as events happen.

Most concrete thing in the trailer other than there's more than one version of the tale, is that halo 5 finally has a date. 27th October 2015.
So expect a midnight launch for several retailers and probably some leaks then, as some will get the game early.

Nice to see that a launch date has been set. I just hope it doesn't suffer from the same multiplayer issues that MCC had at launch. Also just checked out the two new Chief/Locke ads and I like'em! Definitely has me excited

I played all Halo games except Halo 2 other than that, I played all of them. I'm hoping nothing will happen to Master Chief especially since he's being hunted by that Spartan. Sadly I won't be able to play it but I'll most likely watch the gameplay and see what happens.

I've been listening to the podcast HuntTheTruth which is a build up to Halo 5, with key events in the Chief's past being revealed.

I like how it ties in the graphic novel with the journalist as well as Halo 2, yet it clearly depicts that there's the truth that ONI wants while there's the actual truth that's far more disturbing, given what they did to the Spartan II's which happened before the Covenant attacked.

It also mentions a key part in the novels, which has been the base in John's/Chief's past with the oddest fight. It also heavily reflects the nature that is ONI, that they are more powerful and dangerous than they should be. Their actions, like Del Rio, could ultimately endanger the whole human race, rather than save/protect them.

It makes me wonder if Halo 5 will have ONI being a key villain/antagonist for the forerunner saga of the halo universe.

Just listened to the 5th episode of the Hunt The Truth podcast. Many fellow fans think the guest character in the interview was staged or a fake, personally I think he's the real deal, only he IS working with ONI.

Surprised to realise that Sullivan is actually one of the students from the Forward unto Dawn mini-series, nice little nod to it, yet that raises some interesting theories on where his allegiances are with.

#HuntTheTruth is already proving to be a popular hashtag, though I do wish some fans would read the books or get their facts straight before their comments. Still amazes me how many refuse to acknowledge the events behind the creation of the Spartan II's & III's. Actually proves a point that if ONI did exist, they could manipulate options and facts quite quickly and efficiently.
