But why would you want to?

Well..., why would I want to feel empty? lol. Just sounds like a bad day. I like to be happy...feeling empty does not make me feel happy lol. But! If that's what it does for you then hey, to each their own! c: Continuously having an awesome anime to watch, THAT makes me happy! ;x

It's not that though, really.

It's the feeling of being lastingly awestruck, of being thrilled beyond words and devastated beyond belief simultaneously. You've just experienced something you can't express or even really comprehend because the feelings are much bigger than you are. Nicking from Machiavelli it's the spectacle that "left those peoples at once satisfied and stupefied." From C.S. Lewis it's "beauties which pierce like swords or burn like cold iron; here is a book which will break your heart."

It's one of the most powerful and transcendent and visceral and magnificent feelings a work can awaken. It's not that there's nothing there, it's that what is there cannot be rationalized and understood, only experienced in its immensity.

That's The Void. You do feel empty, but it's an emptiness that's as treasurable as it is terrible.

You either come out of it a sublimely content human being or a blathering idiot, but no matter what it's something else.

It's like having a cute puppy and then they just take it away from you forever. You can never get it back. :/

I fill it with more anime. Life has to continue.

or the anime is rushed... from the manga it does not happen with mangas generally (In my opinion since I read them fast).

Ah. Now when you put it that way, I've definitely felt that before. I guess I never thought of it as a void or as emptiness.

Then the anime was a good one for you. It left you with a memory. It's like life you make memories and move on! Some you hold closer than others!

That's pretty much what I do. Sulk for a bit, wish it wasn't over, then find something else to distract me.

After I finish an anime, I go on tumblr and look at a bunch of fanart; then I go to Fanfiction.net and I read a bunch of fanfiction of my favorite characters; then I watch my favorite episode of a funny anime to lmfao to get my mind off the finished anime. The process repeats after that.

Haha I'm the same! I just pick up a new anime when I'm done with the old!

If a great show has a ending worthy of its magnitude I don't get the void. That way I feel happy as it means it'll be worthy of re-watching.

When you invest so much of yourself into something, you feel an emptiness when it's over.

I reflect on the cause, and try to take with me what I liked most.
