Clannad being a 10/10

Yeah but clannad got alternate endings galore, so its not like you have to stick to the sad end.

Personally its the first slice of life anime i have ever watched and for me it really captures something that I have never seen before. So wonderful, so rich in plot, so sad, so heartfelt, i couldn't help being hooked from the first episode.

Truely my anime of 2015 already.

I don't know how sad I would say it is... It is a series that is very packed with emotions. Whether or not it's sad is up to you and your interpretation. I will say I did cry, but at the very end, I wasn't entirely depressed because it wasn't a totally depressing ending. I'm not gonna say more because spoilers and all that, but yeah...

Everything aside, it's a great show, and I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone with even a shred of interest.

You put that picture there on purpose didn't you? DIDN'T YOU? Seriously, though, I found it pretty sad. Nothing fictional can make me cry these days, I've seen too many sad endings for anything to really have an effect, but it did make even my heart drop so that probably says something. Legit spoilers for those who haven't watched:

Was more of sad the story is over sad than a just sad about everything that happened in the show sad is what I'd call it.

Too much obvious foreshadowing that made the ending lose a lot of impact. However it really felt like they didn't want it to be sad in regards to what happened because they could have drawn out the immediate reactions of what happened instead of skipping it like it did. It much more felt like they just wanted us to be emotionally impacted by the events and relationships and be sad that it was over, but happy that it happened. Very cliche sounding but yeah.

The show only got me to cry through the last episode if that is any indication of what I was trying to explain. Before that I only shed a few tears (literally 3 lol) during the penultimate episode.

I thought it was going to be very sad, but I literally saw it coming from a mile a away, so it didn't really hit me. On top of that I didn't get bothered because...

Its nowhere near as sad as Clannad because the ending is inevitable and you have time to prepare for it. Unlike Clannad, which is one unexpected gut punch after another.

Not even close to the sadness from clannad, so I'd probably rate it a 2/10

I didn't really feel like Your Lie was very sad. The outcome was never in doubt so it lost the shock that comes with a surprise. Because I knew what was coming, watching it was like a buffer for the sad outcome.

That said, it did have it's fair share of touching moments.

It was touching indeed.
But not as sad as Air, Kanon, Clannad, Angel Beats, Little Busters, or Anohana. They are in a whole different level.

I'd have to say sadder than Angel Beats and AnoHana.

Both those kept me dry eyed.
Shigatsu didn't.

I'd say a 9/10. The ending is foreshadowed pretty heavily. You'll be prepared for the worst. All the same, the end was very sad, very touching, well staged, and will leave a strong, lasting impression. The way it was handled was exemplary, the final episode was one of the best in recent memory. Surprise did not seem to be the creators intention. They seemed, instead, to want the audience to slowly realize something was wrong, along with the cast. Rather than one big shock at the end, the audience was meant to see things through the characters eyes, as they slowly pieced the reality, and seriousness, of the situation.
