Honestly, it was great but not unbearably sad mainly because it was pretty obvious things were going that way from fairly early in the series. Plus, they managed to really give some nice closure to everything and Kousei wasn't left with no one. Kaori accepted and planned for the end. It was still definitely emotional though because of how well the series was done.

Why do you compare it wasnt as sad ...

Everything is very objective , it doesnt matter wich one is sadder what matter is the characters, were they able to reach you emotionally.

I actually didnt feel that much when it comes to her but Kousei was the one that got me the most and this story is really about Kousei.
Overall , its a well packaged dramatic musical anime.

From like the 4th episode onward, the series felt like nothing but a funeral procession. I got off that procession after about 8 episodes.

Watching a character die in slow motion over 22 episodes is not my idea of fun.

I like feels as much as the next person, but watching each episode was like hitting yourself in the head with a baseball bat. Painful and pointless.

Sad - 4/10
Depressing - 12/10

It was very beautifully tragic, but I unfortunately couldn't cry during it even though I wanted to... And I REALLY wanted to, I'm just that hard to get to tear up, it's weird. It makes me feel inhuman when I see people mentioning they cried buckets during it, and I feel so frustrated and broken when I didn't.

I personally found this sadder than Angel beats, I give this a 8 out of 10. I think Angel Beats would have been sadder if the series didn't have to be rushed.

I loved this show, very inspiring. However, it is extremely sad and leaves a serious impact on you.

Its not as sad as Terror in Resonance. Then again, its only the ending of that thats sad...But if you compare YLiA and the ending of Terror in Resonance, its nothing.

You're missing out, the obvious foreshadowing part isn't what's sad about it.

There's other things to watch and time is limited.
