Restricted Animes?!
Posted 3/26/15
I've searched for a lot of animes on crunchyroll and most of the times there were unavailable!Lets say that more then 70% of animes that i was looking forward to see were restricted in my country.(I can say a lot of names but i think it doesn't matter)So since they'r restricted does that mean that everyone in Europe sees a very limited number of animes?LOL it would be perfect for me if it wasn't for that problem, since CRUNCHYROLL is the best site even with limited animes for me.I don't really know much about THE WHY so... Still love the site, lucky americans that are TOTTALLY FREE on internet ...!!!

Sorry to inform you this but, while the majority of the content is normally available, some animes are limited to certain region due to publisher rights.

Can also be censorship. The last few episodes of Oreimo were unavailable in my country due to reasons. Valid reasons.

Sinmply put CR negotiates with publishers studios etc etc the rights to broadcast shows in various regions EG North America or Europe however, if they don't get the broadcasting rights for a certain region (for whatever reason) then they are blocked for said region. This is extremely annoying as there are some really good shows on the site that cannot be viewed *cough* Gurren Lagann *cough* or only have season 2 available but not season 1 *cough* Oreimo *cough*. How you deal with these problems (if at all) is down to the individual.

The entire film/media industry including the anime industry uses a outdated business model where they license out the rights of their properties to other companies in other countries where they don't have a out reach. Therefore company A may own the right to a anime in country 1 but company A doesn't own the rights to the anime in country 2 because company B owns the rights to it there. This means that if streaming services like Netflix, CR, Daisuki, Hulu among others want to have a show available internationally then they'll have to make a deal with maybe 20 diff companies and all of them probably want some cash in return for allowing them to stream their content... So in other words they probably don't have the money to throw up for that.

Also, it's easier to get a license in the US since that's counted as one country... Where as the EU is divided in multiple countries!
