I tend to find bugs gross and don't like to be around them, but I wouldn't say that I hate them. I do dislike stinkbugs, though - my sense of smell is too strong to risk them being anywhere near my house. I tend to be a little uncomfortable around the bugs that can harm me, like spiders and the like, but I actually have a lot of respect for the presumed intelligence of some jumping spiders.

We actually did some experiments to kill time when we were back in the entomological quarantine. If there is a prey item on a platform that is out of jump range, the jumping spider will remember where the prey was located. It will crawl down from the plant it is currently on and climb up the the other plant to reach the prey. It can apparently remember which leaf the prey was on before it climbed down the first plant.

Someone else made this discovery first, we heard about it, and we replicated the result.

I can't help but be amazed by that, especially when you take into account the difference in brain-size between them and larger animals like wolves.

I don't really "hate" them as much as "completely terrified" of them. Most bugs, arachnids, small lizards, frogs, toads, snails, worms, fish, shellfish, ect. ect.

If the particular creepy-crawlies are especially dangerous/painful, then I generally don't want to be in their presence. Otherwise, I tolerate or even like them. In general, they fascinate me.

I don't find them creepy although I don't necessarily want them on my dinner plate. I grew up with them. No ,not my family. My father was a biologist, and as children we'd go on collection trips for biologic supply companies. In hind sight somewhat unethical, but exciting for an 8 year old.

I almost freaked out looking at those pictures. I despise most spiders, except Daddy Long legs and some spinner types. Jumping spiders = hell no = attack. Scorpions & any-pede = hell no and roaches = auto-attack. I love Winter, since it keeps those things in the pictures down there. Decides to move further North!

Now, I love Preying Mantis. I even send away for egg sacs in the Spring to have more during the Summer & Fall. I don't like chemicals in my garden. Snakes also don't bother me, since there are few venomous ones where I live.

Oh no....I feel sick

I don't hate them as long as they are not near me, 50 miles away from me would be good.

I find all of them interesting, cute even. I do have one exception, I don't like cockroaches. Maybe because one day I was sitting on the floor minding my own business and one came and crawled up my back. Oh I've noticed that insects in the Caribbean are at least 3 times bigger than their European counterparts.

My first encounter of outside crawlers was when I was 3 and allowed out into a field. I brought home a worm and asked to keep it as a pet. I reasoned that it could share my bed, and sit beside me at the table at meal times. Mother was not amused. When I got to the Caribbean at 5, I discovered their different types of ants. The tiny red ones bite so they're best left alone. The medium sized ones are interesting to watch working and so are the large ones. I saw centipedes and millipede and thought the little lizards were so adorable. I took hold of cockroaches by their feelers and took them to the grandparents to ask what they were. They told me to put them back outside where I found them at once. I observed the dung beetles clearing away the dog poop. At school the boys began to bring in some large beetles so I befriended them just to watch the beetles. I also spent some lunch times looking at lady bugs and what I'd call jumping jack spiders. These days I admire all the bugs etc outdoors but I get territorial with my home. They cross my threshold and don't leave ASAP and they could end up dead. If the spiders remain outside my window arches building spider webs to catch any flying insect from coming inside, I'll leave that web and spider alone. I rarely see grasshoppers here so when I do I'll be going "Aww they're so cute!"

Ooh we had these in the Caribbean they'd change colour to match the colour of your walls and they'd catch flies and other insects. Grandmother screamed when she saw them. I'd try to catch them to play with them and the cats ate them if we couldn't rescue them in time.

I agree they're just so adorable.
