http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3015606/African-American-Nebraska-legislator-refuses-apologize-comparing-police-ISIS-saying-shoot-ask-questions-later.html

This is a 77 year old man speaking against a bill supported by Nebraska's single long-haired representative, Tommy Garrett. Senator Garrett also wants to legalize medicinal marijuana, but has put forward a bill that would permit concealed carry in liquor stores and bars.

First off, at 77, how are we taking anything this senile old man says seriously?

Secondly, when I'm sober I have no idea who to shoot. It's like "is he a bad guy or not, I don't know, I'm shaking, Jesus guide my aim!"

Liquor stores and bars are the best place for me to carry my guns, because when you're drunk you know exactly which bad guy deserves a bullet, no question.

So Ernie says he's not worried about the radicalized state of the world, but if he was a violent man, which he's not, he would want to shoot the police, because they are like ISIS in his eyes.

God damn, Ernie Chambers is the best representative we have.

Well lots of people do feel that way. I don't agree with him but I don't doubt his sincerity, or his right to make those statements.

Not sure why he should be written off just for being 77...Or why you assume he is senile. If you want him to censor himself maybe you should practice what you preach.

Politics in this country.....

*sigh*

Just wished we elected people with more than 1 functioning brain cell.

You think cops are threatening you They aren't, btw? Then go to a country without law enforcement. Simples.

I lived in Nebraska for a couple of years and Ernie Chambers was always in the news. He represents part of Omaha, which is the only "big" city in the state. He was also know for saying strange things. Most of the folks in Nebraska just tuned him out.

Cops and Isis the same? lol thats funny. I don't exactly love them, but they don't go around terrorizing people, and then executing them on video (hmm, after typing that line I found it funny how easily it could be taken for sarcasm considering some police incidents, the news, and body cameras lol).
Anyways, point is that organizations are purpose driven, and the purpose of law enforcement is not to control us with force, fear and violence.

Cops can be bad but they're not as bad as ISIS.

It's like comparing a scraped knee to total decapitation.

Police brutality exists everywhere. Humans are violent, even more so when given more authority. But police are no where near as bad as ISIS. They don't put the badge on in the morning with the intent to kill someone. ISIS however is a different story.

It's interesting to note that in the course of just a few lines that State Senator Chambers went from "liberal-leaning independent" to "liberal". So there's a lot of liberals out there pushing legislation for conceal carry in bars?.Remarkable transition of editorial license in the space of one article from a category marked "News".Look at the photos.Out of the 6 of 7 photos of State Senator Chambers he is depicted in street clothes while his detractors are shown in expensive suits. This imbues them with an apparent air of implied official formality .Well... I think that's what's in the air. The 7th photo shows State Senator Chambers in a suit however only when he is pictured at an isolated table answering loaded political questions and listening to tangentially colorful morality play anecdotes. It's not that I'm defending State Senator Chambers or his views.I'm not. Both the US and the UK need to demand a better standard of journalism than the, outrage, trial by media, then condemnation, that currently contributes and competes for a high percentage of media dollars.

I think the OP is the one who is senile or illiterate. Senator Chambers never said ISIS and police are the same thing. His point is that African Americans face more danger from police brutality than from ISIS. How is this even remotely controversial? If you live in the USA, ISIS have no effect on you. If you don't act like an idiot and go visit the Middle East areas where ISIS has a presence, how does ISIS even pose a danger to you? People please learn to read and comprehend.
