True, but atleast Japan(and infact the rest of the world outside the US), doesn't allow colleges to be treated like a damn business sigh. Talk about a no win situation for anyone who lives in the US. It's bad enough there's a ton of pressure to go to college, for a job you're never gonna get anyway, but you're expected to be indebt to the collage/bank for the rest of your life as well.

I live in the UK and graduated from University here...£36,000 in debt. Granted, the repayment system is much better here compared to most other countries, but I doubt I'll be able to fully pay back my loan for a long, long time.

I've asked myself the question: Why do animes usually focus on schools?

Besides the obvious fact that animes target a certain demographic, I also think its because of budget limitations..

The more episodes you can draw a character =the same way= the easier it is to do the work.
The more episodes you can use backgrounds that you've probably practiced many times, the easier it is to do the work.
The more film time that you can use with still images, the less money you need to spend actually animating.

So, its all about money.

A solid, realistic answer.

I used to wonder the same thing until I just got completely desensitized to it and chalked it up to it just focusing on the demographic that might be watching it or highlighting the fact that a lot of people's molding process of trial and tribulations happened during high school. That even occurs in live action TV shows as well. I just wish it was an even mix of realities when it comes to the anime/manga setting...It doesn't hurt to talk about the older audience. Because if you can make a mature series out of teenagers you sure as hell can go there with adults.
