If you're stupid enough to drink/smoke and drive you deserve to get caught or worse. Don't be a statistic, use your head.

Yep, 7 and a half years ago driving home from Universal Orlando. Rear ended someone at a stoplight, they called the cops, and then busted. $2000 for lawyer, a big fine, 50 hours of community service, 1 year probation (which you had to pay $35/month for), mandatory driver safety class ($200), 3 months of AA, 6 months of an interlock device (the thing you blow into to start your car, $80/month). So yeah, it's a pretty expensive and stupid thing to do.

Never, but some of my friends have gotten DUIs, including one riding a bicycle. When I have a drink, I'll walk or get a ride. Twenty bucks in cab far is cheaper than $1,000 DUI.

To be honest, falling asleep at the wheel due to inadequate sleep is just as dangerous as driving under the influence. It is more dangerous than driving after just one or two drinks. Driving like a scumbag idiot is also really bad. It is understandable that drinking and driving is frowned upon, but let's not forget driving while sleeping or driving while being a scumbag idiot.

People should generally treat vehicles as dangerous machinery and exercise common sense and due care when operating them. Be alert, be considerate, don't skimp on vehicle maintenance, and don't take unnecessary risks.

I have not but I have known people who have. Grown men who had to have their parents give them a ride to and from work. I have an uncle who no one talks to anymore because he has had more than one DUI and feels no remorse for them (he even asked his dad to stop and get him a beer after his dad picked him up from the station where he was released on bail for hitting someone). Getting a DUI is not only embarrassing but can ruin relationships with friends and family. I make sure that all my friends know that they can call me and I will pick them up if they are drunk somewhere and make sure that one of us is the designated driver when we go out. There is always an alternative to drunk driving.

Nah, I'll never get behind the wheel if I'm intoxicated.

I've never been arrested. I have, however, drove while on legally prescribed amphetamines. Which makes you high. But it also improves your reflexes and makes you a better driver....so....

Hooray?

It seems more likely that the person who dies in a drunk driving accident is some innocent person that the driver himself/herself. I've asked plenty of people a simple question over the years that none of them have been able to answer; "are you prepared to serve time for vehicular homicide or manslaughter if you kill someone else?" .

No, I've never had any issues the last 14 years of driving.

I measure out and time my drinking for the most part. I probably cut it closer than I should have a few times in my younger years though. One time just prior to 2 AM I got pulled over on my way home from the bars, and was probably at least very much at the limit. Turned out I had a headlight out, and never even was asked if I'd been drinking at all. I really doubt I was over .08, because I honestly feel pretty buzzed at that amount. So I'm sure I was fine either way, the circumstances were just a bit nerve wracking at the time.
