Some anime I put off watching for silly reasons. Maybe I don't like the concept, maybe it's something I heard about it, or maybe I don't like the thumbnail and I usually never get around to watching them until I've run out of things to watch. Here's a few:

Hunter x Hunter, was hesitant to give it a chance because I saw the thumbnail and expected a typical childish shonen story. Man I couldn't have been more wrong about that one.

Magi, similar reason as Hunter x Hunter which is the reason I got around to giving it a chance.

Eyeshield 21, I'm not a fan of football so I didn't think I'd enjoy a football anime and I did very much.

Gurren Lagan, thought it was some goofball anime about mechs with shameless fanservice thrown in between and I find a lot of that to be true, still liked it though.

You kinda get into a groove with familiar anime. It's kinda like voting for a new vs old president. Most people vote for the current prez because they know what/how he's doing, and even if they don't like him, they don't want to get used to the new guy. (Imagine applying those lazy principles to dictatorships)

If I had to choose between watching a new anime, or watching the next FT episode... what do you think I'd do? -_-. FT. Watching a new anime kinda feels stressful, in a certain sense. I'd rather stick to the stuff I'm used to.

Animation is one thing that's keeping me from Gurren Lagan. It looks so like... worse than 90s animation. I'm on ep 2, but yeah idk, it feels like a strain to go one more ep.

That's another thing - most animes don't get you hooked until ep 3. That's a high activation energy requirement -_-. Only few animes, imho, get you hooked on the first ep.

Hunter x Hunter: I thought it looked weird. I saw Gon and I just didn't want to see it. Then I saw some gifs of Killua and thought I should watch this.

Haikyu!!: I hadn't seen a sports anime yet and I thought the show looked interesting. I hadn't watched it because I thought it also looked weird. But when I watched it, I loved it!

Gintama: I saw gifs of it and thought what is this? It looks ridiculous. What is this even about? I'm trying to catch up but so far I really like it.

One Week Friends: I thought it sounded interesting but that the characters looked weird. I loved One Week Friends though.

Love Stage!!: I thought it looked funny and I wanted to see it but then I saw it was yaoi. I hadn't seen yaoi before and I was scared. But when I eventually watched it, I liked it.

Silver Spoon: I thought the characters looked weird again. But I loved Silver Spoon.

I think if the characters look different or weird, I automatically ignore that show until I read reviews about it later.

My main reason is usually art style. There are many anime that I took very long to watch due to the art style not being to my liking. In the end I liked quite a few of them; Nobunagun, Watamote, Mitsu Domoe, even the original Sailor Moon.

I have a huge backlog of series I'm meaning to watch sitting in my queue.
I mostly put off watching them because I know once I start I won't be able to stop for the next couple of hours. The binge is stronger than my feeble willpower.
I'm pretty sure I'll end up liking most of them, if it doesn't look like it's interesting it doesn't get on the list in the first place.
So far the only show I had queued I ended up dropping because I didn't like it was Beelzebub.

Then there's series I like, yet put off watching.
Like the Squid Girl OVAs. I'm saving those for the day I'll really need something to cheer me up.

Then there's series I enjoy so much that waiting a week between episodes just isn't possible so I'm waiting for an arc to end and binge the entirety of it. One Piece is one of those.

Still, the underlying problem for me is a simple one: So much anime to watch, so little time in a day.

Sometimes I would put off watching a new anime series so that the whole season will have been released then I can watch it all at once lol.

I hate when there's a cliffhanger and you have to wait a whole week for the next episode!

Oh, gosh, there are a number of ones for me:

- Toradora: The early descriptions I read made it seem like the cast would be very unlikable, despite it getting rave reviews. I was really damn skeptical when I first watched it--and now it's one of my favorites.

- Say "I Love You" and Kimi ni Todoke: I generally don't like the "perfect guy dates outcast girl" shoujo trope--unless it's subverted in some way--and so I avoided both of these for a long time. Turns out that they are both exceptions to the rule.

- Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood: I tried watching the first FMA, but at some point I lost interest in it, for reasons I couldn't put my finger on. I heard that FMA: Brotherhood hued closer to the original manga, so I was curious... but it took me forever to get around to watching it. Now I love it.

- Shuffle: I'm generally a sucker for harem rom-coms--especially ones that reach an actual conclusion--but I just kept avoiding this one because the whole "gods and devils" thing just sounded dumb and unnecessary. With a few reservations about the portrayal of gender roles, I ended up liking it a lot once I got around to watching it.

I have so many animes in my queue that I have a hard time deciding what to watch. And when I can't decide, I end up rewatching a show I've already seen
