When I am reading, my mind conjures up a "presence" for a character. What I mean by that is I don't usually put a face to a character but I image their general appearance and their body language. The best way I can describe it is watching actors on a stage when the lighting has failed; you can see their shape, some general aspects of their clothing and their emotional presence but their faces and other detailed features are in shadow.

If the author is skillful enough I can sometimes recognise a repeated character by their "presence" before their identity is confirmed in the narrative.

I have tried my hand at writing but I get distracted too easily. Writing can be fun at times but it can also be very draining. I would say that I enjoy reading more but there are some authors who can switch me off in an instant.

I am currently reading Blood and Bone, A Novel of the Malazan Empire by Ian C Esslemont.

Hmm....I thought of seeing it that way. I'm trying to think of ways to see the characters along with the scenery. I wish I could see it the same way I see people and everything else in every day life.

Love placing myself amongst the action of all the fantastic places I explore in the books I read!

I can conjure up vivid imagery and place myself directly into scenes. I'm especially fond of putting myself in the role of characters for which I've a lot of sympathy and imagining that what happens to them is happening to me. I think that helps me better understand the work, in a way.

before i come up with anything, i try to understand what the author is imagining then I take the wording of the literature and come up with some kind of scenario in my mind, while im reading. It just happens while I'm reading it, but i assume thats how the process goes when i do read.

When was the last time you read a novel?

For the most part as it is happening, as I read it.

I just let my imagination do the work.

That's hard...

I imagine the words as my voice narrating it, and the rest is just... Well it depends on the pacing, in action: it's a motion picture - otherwise it's just static.

I guess like a movie/tv show if it's something realistic like, otherwise it can sometimes be like an anime like if I was reading baka and test or a HDN fanfic.
