Rage of Bahamut: Genesis Anime Gets 2nd Season ANNnews

1st season of anime inspired by Cygames' mobile game premiered last October

The staff of the Rage of Bahamut Genesis television anime announced at the Rage of Bahamut Genesis orchestra concert event on Wednesday that production on a second season of the anime has been green-lit.

Funimation, who has licensed the anime for streaming, describes the story:

Two thousand years ago, the black-and-silver-winged dragon, Bahamut, terrorized the magical land of Mistarcia. The humans, god, and demons that inhabited the land united forces against the fiend and sealed its power into a key which was split in two, one half protected by gods and the other protected by demons. Now, Mistarcia is a peaceful realm – until a human woman steals the god's half of the key.

The Rage of Bahamut Genesis television anime is inspired by Cygames' Rage of Bahamut mobile game. It premiered last October, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired.

Illustrator Ōkuma and author Tabata (Ninja Slayer: Machine of Vengeance, Akumetsu) are also starting a new arc of the manga as of the 11th issue. School Battle Light Novel Series 'Hundred' Gets Anime ANN NEWS

The Testament of Sister New Devil's Nekosuke Okuma illustrates Jun Misaki's action story

The GA Bunko 10th Anniversary Festa event announced on Sunday that Jun Misaki's Hundred light novel series is being adapted into anime.

The "ultimate school battle action" science-fiction comedy begins with the Hundred, the only weapon that can counter the mysterious Savage life form attacking Earth. To become a Slayer (master of military arts) who wields this Hundred, the main character Hayato Kisaragi (pictured center in image below) successfully enrolls in the marine academy city ship Little Garden. However …

"I wanted to meet you, Hayato!!"

"W–who are you…?"

Hayato feels a strange yet familiar sense of incongruity towards Emil Crossford (picture right), his roommate who somehow knows him from somewhere. On top of that, as soon as he enters the school, he is challenged to a duel by the "Queen" (the school's most powerful Slayer) Claire Harvey (pictured left).

Misaki launched the novel series in 2012, and SB Creative's GA Bunko imprint published the seventh volume on March 14. Nitroplus artist Nekosuke Okuma draws the illustrations in both Hundred and The Testament of Sister New Devil, another light novel series that inspired an anime. SASAYUKi (Futago ya Futago no Futajūsō) drew a manga adaptation of Hundred in Kadokawa's Monthly Dragon Age magazine from 2013 to 2014.

The eighth light novel volume will bundle a drama CD on August 15.

Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle Light Novel Series Gets TV Anime ANN NEWS

Fantasy mecha series centers on former prince attending female-only academy

Kadokawa revealed via an announcement video on Sunday that writer Senri Akatsuki and illustrator Ayumu Kasuga's (Jōkamachi no Dandelion) Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut (Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle) light novel series is getting a television anime adaptation. The anime will be the fourth project to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the GA Bunko imprint.

The video announces the anime adaptation, reveals the main staff, and introduces the show's characters.

The text in the beginning of the video says, "This is the story of the single boy who is called the 'weakest.'" Later in the video the text says, "I'm not a hero or anything like that. I'm the weakest Drag-knight whose empire collapsed."

The video reveals the show's staff:

Original Work: Senri Akatsuki (GA Bunko / SB Creative)
Original Character Designs: Ayumu Kasuga
Director: Masaomi Ando (Gakkō Gurashi!, Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse, White Album 2)
Series Composition: Yuuko Kakihara (Heaven's Lost Property, Unbreakable Machine-Doll)
Character Designer: Keiko Kurosawa (Assassination Classroom, Re:_Hamatora)
3DCG Production: Orange (Accel World, Terror in Resonance, Tiger & Bunny)
Animation Production: Lerche (Assassination Classroom, Monster Musume, Danganronpa The Animation)

The story of the light novel series revolves around Lux, a former prince of an empire named Arcadia that was overthrown via a rebellion five years earlier. Lux accidentally trespasses in a female dormitory's bathing area, sees the kingdom's new princess Lisesharte naked, and incurs her wrath. Lisesharte then challenges Lux to a Drag-Ride duel. Drag-Rides are ancient armored mechanical weapons that have been excavated from ruins all around the world. Lux used to be called the strongest Drag-Knight, but now he's known as the "undefeated weakest" Drag-Knight because he will absolutely not attack in battle. After his duel with Lisesharte, Lux ends up attending the female-only academy that trains royals to be Drag-Knights.

Akatsuki began the original light novel series under SB Creative's GA Bunko imprint in 2013, and Kadokawa will ship the sixth novel in Japan on June 15.

Fumi Tadauri launched a manga adaptation in Square Enix and GA Bunko's collaborative Gangan GA online magazine last year, and Square Enix will publish the second compiled volume on June 12. Itsuki Watanabe handles the manga's composition.

Previous projects commemorating the 10th anniversary of the GA Bunko imprint include the anime adaptation of Fujino Ōmori's Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darō ka? (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)light novel series, and the Haiyore! Nyaruko-san F OVA project.

Penguindrum's Takayo Ikami writes scripts for mystery series at new studio TROYCA

The official website for the television anime adaptation of author Shiori Ōta and illustrator Tetsuo's mystery light novel series A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako's Feet (Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru) revealed on Friday that the series will premiere this fall.

The website also revealed the show's first key visual.

Additionally, the website revealed the show's staff. Funimation Licenses Hosoda's The Boy and the Beast Film ANN NEWS

Film to open in select US theaters this year; wide release slated for early 2016

Entertainment news source Variety reported on Friday that FUNimation Entertainment has acquired the U.S. rights to Mamoru Hosoda's upcoming film The Boy and The Beast. The film will open in select theaters later this year and nationwide in early 2016.

Theatrical screenings have already been set for France, and the major French movie studio Gaumont will handle international sales outside Asia. Funimation is working with Gaumont International to release the film.

Funimation executive vice president and chief operating officer Mike DuBoise stated, "We're confident that critics and moviegoers will quickly agree that this is an Oscar-worthy film."

The story of the film is set in the human realm (Tokyo's Shibuya ward) and the bakemono realm ("Jūtengai"). In these two worlds which must not intersect, there lives a lonely boy and a lonely bakemono. One day, the boy gets lost in the bakemono world, becomes the disciple of the bakemono Kumatetsu, and is renamed Kyūta.

Hosoda (Summer Wars, Wolf Children) created and scripted the movie. It will be Hosoda's first film since 2012, when his relatively new animation movie company Studio Chizu released Wolf Children as its first project.

The film will open on July 11 in Japan. Renji Asai (Sentō Jōsai Masurawo) launched the manga in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace on April 25.
