There's still good horror being made, I just find that it isn't big budget or it's international as opposed to coming out of North America? Like a lot of people said, Babadook was really good. A lot of good horror has been coming out of France and Sweden the last few years. Korea and Japan consistantly put out good films in this genre.

A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night is another one I would suggest to check out, it's from Iran.

I saw that! It was great but more moody and focused on atmosphere than outright terror. Definitely worth watching though.

I'm not that well versed in horror really but I think a new generation of horror tropes have been capitalized on, at least in the US over the past decade plus. I think if a movie like Scream came out today with the parody elements, it would play out much differently. There was a movie I saw recently actually that kinda skirted this line, It Follows. It has a great use of sound and acknowledges previous ideas in horror movies. I'm curious what others think. I saw a trailer on youtube for this movie Starry Eyes, certainly nsfw. But I'm looking forward to watching that.

Anyone else see The Loved Ones? That was recommended to me recently.

Yes, France had some good horror in the last decade. Some brutal stuff too, just look at "Frontiers" or "Inside". Also some decent stuff coming out of Spain and Latin America as well.

I barely watch any horror films anymore since horror in the US is really lacking. Honestly Hollywood films in general have been meh. They aren't creative nor are they original anymore. They just try to make bank on reused material or by having someone famous make/be in the film they already get enough from the sellouts. Not to say all films suck, but there is an increasing trend of bad films coming out so hopefully it changes at some point. Foreign films are pretty awesome to watch so I tend to watch them nowadays.

The last horror movie I really liked was Paranormal Activity (first two movies)
The first Insidious movie was fun.
Evil Dead 2013 was nothing scary but made it up with all its goriness, I liked it aswell.
But that's pretty much it according to my taste.
