Post Reply Now that the Soul Eater manga has finished, do you think that the Anime should be remade to be 100% accurate, like Fullm

In case you're wondering, yes, the Manga is different from the Anime. Much different, but only at to a certain point. I believe around volume 11 is where the Anime and the Manga begin to branch off. The anime was in the works when the manga was within the first 10 volumes, I believe, and when the Anime caught up, it had to branch off. This is just like Fullmetal Alchemist in comparison to Brotherhood, except the Anime more strictly follows the manga up to a certain point. A lot of things happen differently in the Manga, and I think the plot is much thicker. I myself just picked up Volume 25, the last volume that released a couple of weeks ago in English, and I am about to read it to finish up the story. To those who have read it or are interested in the manga's story; would you like to see a reboot of the series, complete with accuracy and newer animation?
Of course, the chances of this are slim, but I can see it happening if it gets enough support.

I don't know.

I watched the original FMA, then FMA brotherhood. Though Brotherhood was good, and it was still better than most anime titles out there, It does not compare to the original.

(haters, listen: If you haven't watched them in order, I hear that it's common to think brotherhood is better because that was your first impression)

Soul Eater was good, but kinda "meh". I haven't read the manga, so maybe it would be better as a remake, maybe not. I don't know.

I do know that there's a number of titles that are getting or got this sort of treatment. HxH, FMA, FSN, Hellsing (another where I truly prefer the original anime over the "true to the manga" version. Hellsing Ultimate was a crap anime which essentially was "OMFG!!! THIS GUY IS BAD ASS!!! and threw a bunch of jarring "funny" scenes in which destroyed the tempo of the story telling... which was ok because Hellsing Ultimate lacked any depth).

The original SoulEater anime was fairly long. I don't know if I can sit through another rehash and reinterpretation of that length.

I honestly don't read much manga. I just haven't the time. can barely keep on top of the anime, so when an anime goes to original material, I'm ok with it. Plus, sometimes, it's actually a good thing. Manga can drag stuff on way too long. Anime doesn't have that luxury. You have to trust your directors.

Anyhow, if they were to remake it I wouldn't complain, but I want an anime that's of equal quality or better.

I am completely satisfied with where Soul eater ended..

The only reason I would want to see it rebooted would be to see some more Medusa.

Brotherhood is a direct manga to anime series. Everything happened in the proper order, nothing was left out. I loved the story in the Manga, so I loved that. I haven't tried watching FMA due to my fear of mixing up canon with non-canon.

I thought the anime was alright, though the ending felt very rushed. The manga's ending I cannot comment on today, but the climax seems very exciting. I won't spoil anything, but it's great.

I don't believe it was too long. In fact, it was fairly short. I love long animes because of all of the detail put into the story. Like One Piece, but think, with this series, it's already finished. Therefore, there's no need to add 6-8 episodes of filler between content. I don't believe the original Soul Eater had any filler, either, which may explain why it ended so early on the manga cycle instead of waiting for all of them to be released.

Medusa is much more fleshed out in the manga. She's much more involved, as well.
I thought the anime ending was generic, though. Seemed like a "Let's team up against the baddie, woo! (Queue Final Fantasy 7 Fanfare) Yay we win humanity is saved!"

The manga has an underlying theme of the battle between madness and order. As well as fighting the enemy, we find out protagonists fighting themselves, making the series more interesting in my opinion.

It's worth the read, if you have a week or two and access to a library or book store that stocks this series. (That, or just read it online, I suppose.)

That's you. I hate when they stick to the manga for "accuracy" and I hate overly long titles where it's too hung up on details.

With many of the 100+ ep shows, I just turn them on in the background and do other things. I look up when it sounds like something interesting is going on or something has changed, but in generall... I find I rarely miss anything important.

Accurate animes are great when the quoted material is great as well. Anything inaccurate is non-canon to the original story, and original stories can be good. Just my opinion though.
I don't see how you can just turn it on in the background. There are a lot of small, yet important details that are thrown into casual conversation. You might as well not be watching it for plot or anything if you don't pay attention to most of it.
But I digress and respect your opinion, of course.

Not directed at you, but all I can say is IDGAF.

I watch because I want to be entertained. I want to have it either hit me on an emotional level or show me soething I have't seen before or just tell me a really captivating story. The tiny details never do it for me. I absolutely hated Maison Ikoku which spent 96 episodes of two characters literally not having the courage to say "i love you" (despite very little actually stoppng them from saying as much). I wanted to burn my copy of lord of the rings (the book) for ALL THE GOD DAMNED FUCKING PAGES DESCRIBING EVERY GOD DAMNED BLADE OF GRASS FFS KILL ME NOW!!!!

Ahem...

Yeah. little minutiae holds absolutely nothing for me

EDIT: I'm also part of the "anime kinda sucks rigt now because of all the recycled plot lines andone dimensional characters" faction.

I've seen enough anime over the years that when I watched hunterxhunter, I knew, "oh, this is going to be six episodes of your typical training sequence" and I got bored with 10 episodes of the king playing shogi. And 23 episodes of the final battle.

It gets pretty damned tiresome.
