Too much and that's why I stopped reading. Fanfiction can get addicting.

I read a really good fanfic series and eventually it went from realistic feeling drama with real problems to stuff with Angels and ghosts and it was just so bizarre. After that I gave up on fanfics.

Only if extremely well done, not pandering, and not porn.

I love fanfiction, reading and writing it. My reasons are pretty much the same as what a lot of other people have said already.

I like fanfiction for crack pairings because when they're done well you will stop and think "maybe that could happen." I also like fanfiction for shows that feel incomplete or like certain characters could have been more filled out. There's a thrill to trying to fill out a character without betraying the cannon.

I have only one point to concede to the people who prefer original fiction which is that lately I find it frustrating having to spend so much time referencing the show/manga for things when I'm writing. If I was writing my own world, I would spend much less time on this. I have to look up things like "does character B have any family?" or the worst moment when I realized that one character has a different eye colour in the manga.

There are things that bother me though:

1) OC self inserts (I have been guilty of this myself as a young person but I don't do it anymore)

2) OOC (It can happen accidentally, but it's just weird when they're out of character within cannon - AU's are excepted)

3) Writing in the first person (I can't read these. I just can't.)

4) Inconsistency in verb tense (the accidental kind)

Though I complain, these things can all be done tastefully and tactfully. It's just incredibly rare so when I see them I tend to drop the story, especially if they happen in the first paragraph.

I also think it's really great to see how many people are asking to get constructive criticism on their writing in order to improve. Writing and editing are both things I highly enjoy. I've actually received a number of PMs back thanking me for my reviews, and asking me to edit their grammar and spelling on their upcoming stories, which I gladly agreed to (greedy to read some more, muahah ).

*edit I should probably mention that as of right now, I've only read Fairy Tail fanfics though I do intend on branching out soon, I just wanted to stay within the same area for now while I get a feel of the community. I don't doubt that I'll like other fan fictions though! :)

Are you interested and would have time to proofread my Laxus x Lucy Halloween contest entry? I have to submit it by the 31st (Saturday). My usual beta is MIA so I've been working with a backup for the last week or so.

I like them when they're done well. Extremely amateurish fanfics don't cut it for me anymore. Same goes for RPs.

I love fanfiction. I used to read Gundam Wing. Currently I'm reading a lot of Harry Potter faniction. I also love to see relationship where there would not normally be any.
