I've'been using the Crunchyroll app on my Xbox One for a while now (p.s. it's a great app). Occasionally it seems to have a slight playback issue. The video hangs for a few seconds and then continues. This will happen at any point in the video, or during a commercial. Other video apps on my Xbox One, like Youtube or Netflix don't show this behaviour at all. The video hangs about 5 - 10 times during a given episode.

The website player doesn't seem to have this problem either, even though my computer is connected via WiFi and my Xbox One is connected via a cable.

The reason I suspect it might connect to the wrong CDN is that commercials in the Xbox One app are all US commercials, while the website player shows local (Dutch) commercials.

CR uses separate CDN providers for the website and apps. It could be that there is no Dutch-local app CDN available, so you're being redirected to the North American network, which may be part of the reason you're experiencing poor playback performance.

Given the behaviour this sounds like the likely culprit. If the performance gets too bad I'll switch back to hooking up my laptop to the TV (would be nice if the apps get some EU CDN's, though).

Just wanted to bump this post back up since recently the Xbox App, using the North American CDN, is broken by not using a more local CDN. None of the video's I've tried work properly. Rather than the five to ten minutes of laggy video, the video is constantly choppy and laggy.

Again, using the website causes no problems. The commercials there are Dutch/European indicating that a local CDN is used.

So, I guess there are two things that would totally solve the problem: A local CDN for the Xbox App or an HTML5 player in the browser (that way I can just open the site on the Xbox )
