I've made a few posts about my theory around the web. I'm not 'well known' so I'll be surprised if anyone has read it, but here's the 'copy and paste' version from 'DA', explaining my theory. I'm hoping I'm wrong.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide You know it's funny, but I believe if they made a 'Resident Evil' game, staring all the girls from the series, the game would have to feature Jill, Claire, Ada, and of course Rebecca.
Rebecca Chambers is actually my favorite character from the RE series, but what if I told you this couldn't possibly happen, because Rebecca Chambers is dead!
Sadly, I think it's true, and Barry Burton's the reason for this.
No, Barry didn't find Rebecca and kill her. He's not a murderer or anything like that, but he being alive, is proof that Rebecca didn't make it.
Before I go on, and explain why I believe this, please let me remind you, that this post contains spoilers!
With that out of the way, let's go back to 'Resident Evil'. The very first game. You have to choose between two characters. Jill Valentine, and Chris Redfield. If you play as Jill, you run into Barry. If you play as Chris, you run into Rebecca. Now if you get the best ending for both characters, you and everyone else (except Wesker) escape the mansion.
That means cute Rebecca is curled up asleep, or Barry is cleaning his gun.
Now sadly Rebecca has vanished off the face of the world, but not Barry. Meaning Jill Valentine's ending was canon. Which sadly means, Rebecca has vanished without a trace...
Of course I may be wrong about this, but her appearance in RE5, in mercenary mode doesn't count.
So that's why I think Rebecca is dead. I do hope I'm wrong.
