I'm extremely excited to finally have the first episode of my anime centered podcast finished and released!

Our crew has been doing a weekly gaming podcast for a while now, and when I learned that our new co-host Alex is an even bigger anime fan then I am, I realized that now is the time to finally fulfill my dream of doing an anime spinoff series.

I hope you guys like it! Please feel free to give some feedback if you'd like Because we're kind of busy with our weekly gaming podcast, this will likely be either a bi-weekly or monthly podcast. I'll try to remember to update this thread whenever a new episode is released- you guys are our key demographic after all!

Our website can be located here: http://otakusmustdie.com
As well as on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/otakusmustdie

Can also catch us on itunes!

Thanks! Podcasting has been a fun hobby for us for a while now. Once you manage to assemble a decent team and dial in your rapport I've found it becomes more and more enjoyable thing to spend time doing. I really hope we can get a small following for this anime one to incentivize doing a lot more of these in the future.

So the few of you that tuned in for our first episode two months ago probably think that the project died. However that is not the case.

We're actually gearing up to record episode 4 this week. The problem is that it's been like pulling teeth to get Ben to upload these episodes to the website. So in the mean time, I'm going to just upload them myself to Soundcloud. Here is the page where the episodes can be found: https://soundcloud.com/otakusmustdie

I'm also going to add the episode links to the OP of this thread as well as to my Crunchyroll group which can be found here: http://www.crunchyroll.com/group/Otakus_Must_Die

So stay tuned for episode 4. Hopefully I'll be getting it out in the next week or so. Episode 5 will likely be a post mortem on the Spring season as well as an introduction to the summer. So look forward to that as well!

Good question. If there's any kind of demand for it we would love to video record our sessions. Our main job is a video production company, so we could definitely set something like that up easily enough.

We do have a youtube account for Gamers Must Die. https://www.youtube.com/user/GamersMustDie

I've thought for a while now that it may be kind of fun for Alex and I to stream some gameplay stuff on there sort of Twitch style. Maybe could do the same sort of concept for anime as well- like running commentary on an episode while we watch it.

However at the end of the day we'd probably have to stick with games over anime for that sort of thing since we'd more than likely receive DMCA take downs for showing anime content. Would have to watch some old shows with expired licenses or something for people to not care

Episode 4 released!
http://gamersmustdie.com/2015/06/omd-ep4-2d-girls-no-smell/

In today's episode we begin with Alex giving her first impressions of Steins;Gate, followed by a discussion of our thoughts on SHAFT animation and their crazy ass backgrounds plus love of good oral hygiene... In news we spend a lot of time discussing whether DBZ should have ended in the Frieza saga, as well as our thoughts on the coming release of the "Resurrection F" movie. I also take this time to introduce Ben and Alex to the fan made live action videos that have been posted lately.

Following news we move into a discussion on the prevalence of CGI in current anime, including what we consider good examples of it or what we consider to be total crap. Our final segment is a discussion on the Spring season titles we've been watching which are wrapping up.

I just have to say that I listened to all four episodes you've posted so far, and I have to say that I really liked them. I've enjoyed listening to your discussions about shows, news, and various other topics. I also found your friend Ben's reactions to your explanations of anime terms, genres, and other stuff very funny.

Overall, I look forward to hearing more. Keep up the good work.

Awesome! Glad you're liking it so far.

I like that we all have our own niches on the show. It definitely helps to have Ben be the straight man since it probably keeps our conversations grounded and forces us to explain a lot more than we normally would. Then there's Alex who knows a lot of technical animation stuff since she actually does work in that field to some extent. And finally I guess I'm there as the guy who's a fairly average fan who just watches boat loads of anime all the time.

Episode 5 released!
http://gamersmustdie.com/2015/07/omd-ep5-cute-girls-doing-cute-things/

Today's episode is a long one, so be warned that we're clocking in at over an hour!

We begin with what we've been watching lately, which includes a lengthy discussion on Dragon Ball as well as the various series we completed during the Spring season and our final thoughts on them. My synopsis of Kiniro Mosaic season 2 ends up causing a great deal of confusion when I casually throw out the term "CGDCT." Apparently the acronym for Cute Girls Doing Cute Things hasn't caught on as much as I thought...

We move on from there to news, where we discuss the real world relevence of the childhood friend trope. And Alex tells us all about the "Yandere Simulator" game, which has made a lot of development progress lately! From there we go into the full summer 2015 anime chart to see which series we will avoid, and which ones we'll watch. And yes, you'll all get to hear my excellent pronounciation skills once again!

Just an update on the state of the podcast:

Alex has been working full time all summer across state. So it's been kind of difficult to find times to get together. We've done a couple remote podcasts with her over Skype but the Gaming podcast usually gets prioritized for that. Also, I'm not a big fan of the skype podcasts. I don't think that our rapport is as on point. So I prefer to wait to do these in person.

Last weekend she was actually back in town and we were all gung-ho and ready to record. But the Pacific Northwest ended up having a pretty major windstorm. And since our summer was incredibly dry, the trees were all really weak and easily fell. So when I was driving in to Ben's garage to meet up for recording (which was a harrowing experience as I had to weave around and dodge tree limbs the whole way), the power suddenly went out in our whole area, and the blackout lasted a couple days. It was a pretty perfect opportunity to record, so I was really bummed out that it was so incredibly out of our control!

Moving forward, we plan to get a bit more serious about both podcasts. Eventually we would even like to make a few dollars off of them. So in a couple of weeks we hope to start grinding out recordings for both shows much more frequently. We are also going to play around with the formats a bit more to try to find things we can improve on. So if anyone has any comments or suggestions feel free to post them! We may even read interesting comments on air

So yeah. We'll be on a bit of a hiatus for the next couple of weeks. But look forward to a (hopefully) big return and much more future episodes!
