If a tree fell, and there was nobody around to hear it, does it still make a sound?

Sound is by its very definition a 'hearable noise'
There is potential for a person to hear the noise if they were in the forest when the tree fell. Therefore the tree did make a sound when it fell.

Or an alternative explanation would be:
"Two monks were arguing about the temple flag waving in the wind. One said, "The flag moves." The other said, "The wind moves." They argued back and forth but could not agree.
The Sixth Ancestor said, "Gentlemen! It is not the wind that moves; it is not the flag that moves; it is your mind that moves." The two monks were struck with awe."

But it depends what logic you subscribe to.

No, it's my answer. A metal unicorn riding Freddie with an explosion is the answer to, well, everything.

Previous thread...

- If a tree falls in the forest and nobody's around to hear it; Does it make a sound?

Results of the Poll

- Yes: 95 votes (64.6%)
- No: 11 votes (7.5%)
- As long as the forest is in a vacuum.: 9 votes (6.1%)
- Does anybody care?: 17 votes (11.6%)
- Check for spiders.: 15 votes (10.2%)

So, about 65% of Crunchyroll believes that a fallen tree with nobody around would indeed make a sound, 7.5% are complete morons, and 11.6% don't give a rat.

Good to know.

If a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman to correct him, is he still wrong?

when a tree falls, it creates an aberration in space-time, resulting in two different space-times, one in which no noise was heard,
and another in which some noise was heard.
