People have been known to speculate about the end of the world at and around the beginning of a new millenium. People get involuntarily anxious. Other than that people are always anxious about the future, especially if they don't understand what's happening, see new thereatening phenomas, and there is also an absurd prejudice towars the younger generation if not understood. Youthful cultures are seen as bizarre, teenagers are known to disregard old values, being anarchic and nihilist. This has certainly been going on since the 50s, even though it is time after time proven that humanity survives. And time after time we survive these threats. Some threats are getting smaller. The nuclear war has never happened, it has even been shown to us that the major powers were very reluctant to go head-on in such a way that people thought were bound to happen. The violent socialist of old still exists, but they've lost their support, and are much fewer. Nazism was defeated, still exists, but there are always people that will be troublemakers. MAnkind have survived all this. And more to. Plagues. Who dies of plague today (well, actually, people do, but I've heard only in India). It is the media, focusing strongly on the crises that give this image of doomsday. Political terrorists, okay, but the anarchists of old are pretty much gone. AIDS, yes, but the plague is gone. Religious groups, what's new? Violence, hardly new. All this is old things in new form, or in the same old form just angled differently. Not one of them will lead to the destruction of the mysterious fragile society people seem to imagine themselves living in (society is much stronger and just changes if taking a "hit" at all).

By the way, bartholomew, as well as Daniel I believe, establishes Armageddon to take place about 5-5500 AD, we'll all be dead before the Antichrist.

If there is a real threat it's nature giving up. Only the destruction of nature and/or the globe is prone to destroy mankind. Humans are tough. That's how we stay alive through anything anyone can think of.

Silly, silly people. Just...don't alright? Nothing in that dusty old book is going to do you a bit of good these days.
Wake up and smell the roses, the world is a fantastic enough place without having to pretend that there's some omniscient sky fairy behind it all.

Probably. We're nearing there at least. It's not like people are learning from their mistakes either. Maybe some are... but not enough do. There's a problem in waste management.. what do you see when you look at the trash can? Styrofoam in the plastic section. What's the change in that? There's a problem with global warming... what do you see in the streets? Smoke belchers. How long will it take for people to realize that the world is dying? And because everything is inter connected, we are affected by the things we do. Thus, we live in a harsh world. We experience harder times as years go by. In the past we were still able to afford to live a middle class life, and now we're nearing the poverty level. Yeah, I guess we're heading for the end of time until we all do something about it. Few people simply isn't enough.

Yes, I think so. The signs mentioned in the Bible are all showing up.

That aside, I can't remember when I read the newspaper report but the earth won't be able to sustain life at the rate we're destroying it.

To be honest with you I think we really are. Times are getting tougher and tougher for people, some can't even afford to live in there houses anymore and so on. I think that the antichrist will also be making an appereance soon in the next 10 years or so aswell. Now this is just my opionon since i am a christian and all tell me what u think and so on.

Tougher and tougher? The world and the various economies have never been stable. No empire/country/etc. has ever lasted forever. If the U.S. blows up, it isn't really anything unique/drastic relative to the past. Also, you may simply be becoming increasingly aware of the world's problems as you age. This is far from the first recession we've had. (Your profile says you're from the U.S.)

.....LOL

Are you serious? People can't afford houses anymore? You should compare our time from way back when, see if life is really getting tougher. It's more like we're getting lazier and lazier, our asses are getting fatter.

As for the biblical theories....Ok. Believe what you believe. Hey, atleast people aren't getting stoned nowadays right...?

Okay so your saying the Bible is not true, so we are not true. It doesn't make sense to me... Please explain your logic. (BTW the next part is just my opinion, so you can ignore it )

Anyways, my opinion is that a lot of people talk about the end coming near. But I think that in Christianity this has always been the case. The Bible says that no one will know when the time will come. There are some signs that are given. But people always argue about what they mean. Honestly, I don't think Christians should worry about the antichrist or the "end" because the Bible states that followers of Christ will be taken before the great tribulation. Furthermore, just live your life as a Christian love your neigbor and God. Simple as that. Stop asking questions that are just conjectures. People will not be able to answer them.

We are not living in the biblical end times since the bible is false. There is not proof for the bible therefore I consider it as true as Scientology.

I got that part. What I didn't understand is the "so we are not" I guess you didn't think it through when you were writing it. I got confused. Anyways, you can't say everything in the Bible is false because many of the figures and occurences are backed by historical data. King Solomon existed, so did all the other figures in the Bible. Saying the Bible is fake is not logical. Saying that you don't believe in God, and do not follow the lessons taught in the Bible is a different matter.
