hey all trying to find some new anime's to watch, below is a list of the criteria i enjoy in animes, and those that i dislike, also below is a list of anime's i have already watched.

what i like in anime:
action, drama, serious/dark tone, graphic/horror, or intense fight scenes, graphic violence etc, i also like quality animation or more 'adult-like animated characters" i can stand if an anime's old and has older animation... but what i mean by this is when the characters are drawn in a simplistic goofy manner, or "kid-like" an example i will use is when the main character is like 20... and is still 4 ft tall chubby bright round eyes and not in a realisticly drawn body size etc.

What i dislike:

i do not like comedy or goofy-light hearted animes, however if an anime has intense serious tone w/ mild humor i could handle it, such as the case of Fullmetal Alchemist which i enjoyed..... if you need a reference, animes that i have thouroughly enjoyed are below.
i am also not a big fan of anime's that ...well how do i put this.....i guess i'll use an anime as a reference.... anime's like "Kill La Kill' where they just have big breasted women in skimpy outfits fighting each other.... it's not that i'm a feminist, i couldn't give two shits.... but rather i prefer to watch it have a more serious tone usually with a male hero figure, seeing as i can have an easier time to relate or understand the character.... being a guy and all... there are cases though where i don't care, as long as the heroine takes it in a serous manner, such as in the Case of an anime called "Witch Hunter Robin" which i have only seen 1 or 2 episodes but really enjoyed it, and wish i could find it here but it isn't =S
i am also not a fan of those "harem-style" animes, or romance animes, i guess you could say the only thing i look for in an anime is dark/graphic/blood/violence or more serious toned, with some mild comedic elements if necessary.

anime's i've watched and thoroughly enjoyed/loved or really liked:
Tokyo Ghoul
Full Metal Alchemist
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Parasyte: The Maxim ( i thought it sounded silly at first, but after watching it, i quite enjoyed it)
Deadman Wonderland ( i liked it)
Attack on Titan (need i say more?)
Trigun
Darker than Black
Death Note (wasn't bad overall)
Blue Exorcist
D.Grey Man
Cowboy Bebop
Big O
Darker Than Black
Shiki
Samurai Champloo (wished it had a more central arc rather than a sporadic arc, and episodic)
Rurouni Kenshin

Dragon Ball Z ( up until the Cell saga... the majin buu series was kinda stupid imo, and GT doesn't exist in my book, mainly i write down this list simply for nostalgic purposes as i grew up on this series, even though it had light-hearted comedic elements.... its regarded as one of the best anime;'s of all time, and one many americans know of the most)

Anime's i've watched and liked or thought was mediocre or decent.
Sword Art Online ( i at first liked it, but get annoyed with the ridiculous romance crap and just bleh...)
Log Horizon (i think it's alright, better pacing than SAO, the only thing i dislike is it sometimes drags on, and i feel like i'm not watching it because i'm enjoying it at certain points, but rather just bored with it... sometimes wish it had more action, all in all though, i find it in my opinion the better of the two video game referencing animes between it and SAO.
Black Butler ( thought it wasn't that bad)
Another (was interesting at first, started to drag towards the end, finished it simply to finish it...)

Anime's i've heard good things about but could use more opinions:

Jojo's Bizzare Adventure (it just looks way to silly for me... but i hear things about it...plus the animation is great)
Akame Ga Kill ( seems ok, only question is if there's alot of comedic elements to it?)
Fairy Tail
Gintama ( i watched one episode, and wasn't feeling it... to light-hearted, although i liked Rurouni Kenshin... so if its along the same lines as that, i guess i could get into it)

LIST OF SUGGESTED ANIME:
Guilty Crown
Akame Ga Kill
Psycho-Pass
Knights of Sidonia
Mirai nikki (Future Diary)
Hunter x Hunter

I don't see Hunter X Hunter 2011 on your list plenty of great fights and it can be really dark at times If you haven't checked it out that would be my first suggestion.

Akame Ga Kill I would classify as a VERY dark anime, while it does have some humor in it, leans much more into darker tones and violence. I also enjoyed Tokyo Ghoul and consider it as one of my favorite anime's.

Other anime's I would recommend as being 'Dark' as well as being good anime's

With older protagonists:
Psycho-Pass (definitely give this a watch)
The Monogatari series (Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Monogatari Second season)

with younger protagonists but still good anime's I think:
Soul Eater
Guilty Crown
Kokoro Connect
Brynhildr in Darkness
A Certain Magical Index/A Certain Scientific Railgun (while very comedic has a shared dark storyline and a little bit of violence)

If you want older protagonists and more violent anime's tho I would suggest watching the mature rated anime's on Hulu as Crunchyroll tends to not have those, though I really haven't watched most of those anime's to completion and don't have many recommendations based on your exact criteria (Except for Psycho-Pass, that is an excellent anime that hits all your requirements)

Mirai nikki and Psycho-Pass are both great and pretty dark/serious. But I don't think they are on crunchyroll. You could try fate zero and unlimited blade works. Good fights and they don't focus to much on humor.

Knights of Sidonia? The fights are pretty visceral, and the world is pretty well crafted.

kk i'll add those to my list, i've seen Hunter X Hunter around, haven't watched it, but it looked a little to campy for me.psycho-pass i've seen and looked good....problem is i had a RL friend pull a dick move on me and during his explanation of it to me... he spoiled the ending... now i feel like i can't watch it if i know what's gonna happen =S

i'll add those to the list, thanks for the suggestions guys! feel free to add any more.

Gintama is mostly a comedy show so I don't think that's what you would be looking for although throughout the show its dipped its toes in almost every genre at some point.

I'll second Hunter x Hunter and you might like Berserk (I haven't seen the tv series or the movies in their entirety, so I can't give much of an opinion on them but it might be right up your alley)

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is something I watch for the entertainment value in it. It has its camp moments and doesn't expect you to take it very seriously (kinda like Gurren Lagann in that regard), but I haven't seen anyone say that it bored them to death. It's a series that runs on manly, bizarre, and rule of cool. Plus, Dio's a total dick and I love it

I really enjoyed High School of the Dead. If you look past the ecchiness I think it would fit your criteria nicely.

Just watch the first episode, its beautiful

Gintama is meh up to around episode 20 (I almost initally gave up) then goes on about a 100 episode run that's as good as anything you'll see. In fact just go watch episodes 58-62 1st. If you still aren't feeling it after those 4 you won't like it.

Trigun -- the first few episodes come off as a bit comedic, but it loses that pretty quickly in favor of a fairly dark story line.

I've watched the first few episodes of Shiki, and it looks really good so far. It's a dark horror type anime. The person who wrote the story for it also wrote the story for the anime Ghost Hunt, which is also within the horror spectrum and has some disturbing episodes, though I'm not sure if it's quite your cup of tea.

yea, i watched High School of the dead to finish, it was ok, i looked past the parts and tried to enjoy the fact it was one of the few anime "zombie apocalypse" themed shows.
Trigun i've watched before, i enjoyed it as well, i just finished Akame Ga Kill, was alright... but i feel the ending was a little rushed, and he was trying overly hard to just kill off characters, couldn't care really if they did that... just you can tell when they're over-doing it and trying to kill them off in a non-reasonable/logical fashion.

yea i heard about Berserk but can't find it on here =S

i tried Knights of Sidonia... but meh, it just wasn't my style, and as for Gurren Lagann... mecha's aren't usually my thing either =S

yea i finished watching Shiki, i really liked it.
