My middle name is not controversial, but it would be awesome if it was.

I actively try to avoid them for the most part. I feel like I shouldn't provide my opinions in threads that I may have to moderate, and those types are frequently reported.

How do you react to seeing controversial forum posts or threads, where people are just looking to start an argument of throw bait to get their thread going?

I'm hurt. That wasn't what I was trying to do at all.

You can't help what it turns into.

As for my reaction to those types of threads... If I have an opinion and it hasn't already been said well enough by another poster, I post it. If not, I don't. Simple as that.

I don't think controversial threads do any good for the Crunchyroll community, they just breed hatred for no reason between people. Especially threads on religion and politics. I've never had an issue with moderators on this website, and it's good that you try to stay objective and avoid contributing to threads that may tarnish your objectivity.
But that's just my opinion, Moderator-sama.

Ignore them. Unless it personally pertains to me I don't normally put my two cents in.

OR they are seriously ridiculous and I feel the need to just show my wtf-ery.

That's wise. If I were a mod I'd probably do the same.

I tread carefully and only engage every now and then. Generally, I may read through a few pages or only the OP, without saying anything. It really depends on how common the topics are, my mood, and how toxic the threads are. I'm more likely to stay quiet or ignore altogether when the subjects have been spammed multiple times within a year or two. When I do comment, my approach is always subdued to some extent, and I brace myself. I try not to dwell too much on the arguments. Also, I take the opportunity to study fellow CR users. I'm kind of a creeper.

I rather have a controversial topics (on religion, or politics) over something bland and pointless like what color nail polish do you wear.

At that I was so upset wen the ED moved in with the GD. Because It meant I would have to wade through pages of mindless pointless threads to find a good controversial debate.
