While I enjoy a good debate, I usually don't notice the posts until Godwin's Law has been invoked or a flame war is well under way. At that point I don't get involved because logic and rationality have long since been abandoned.

Everyone loves expressing their opinions, and controversial topics allow us to do that, so why not? As long as you can keep it civil.

I agree with this. We should be allowed to talk about anything and it be kept civil. If only it were so..

Thank goodness we have our moderator overlords, who smite anyone who goes a bit over-the-top.

I just click on them and read what people put. I generally don't partake myself. It's always interesting to see the various viewpoints on a topic.

Basically the same here, I'd rather not chime in. Since most of the controversial things are topics I already debate about enough as it is, it's nice to be on the sidelines for once. Relax and watch people with funny anime pictures argue over things.

I avoid the topics of which I don't have enough knowledge.

Always admirable. It's a shame when someone tries to argue a point without any sort of basis in evidence, or makes claims that are directly false. It's always good to read and learn, though.

I called a guy a moron, and the moderators changed my post.
So, they're not exactly superlax.
But I still love the moderators, though.

I try to stay away, at least for a while.... If it's something that bothers me I might jump in.

I told a guy to Fuck Off and the mods seemed to let it fly. I went to back to delete it myself cause I felt I went to far.
