If you could become a cyborg, would you want to?

I would. Because it basically means eternal life. Although you would probably be slightly screwed if you got caught in an EMP...

But yeah, I'd go for some cybernetics. Arms & legs would be handy, and possibly a bit of chest protection in the form of activatable body armour. Obviously to go with that I would probably have to have one or two neural implants. Just to make me process things a little faster and react to situations a bit quicker.

For sure I would. Not a combat cyborg mind you, I don't really have any interest in putting myself in situations where such abilities would be necessary. Simply having the option to replace all the bits that fail over time would be nice.

Heck I'd probably go full-synthetic just so I wouldn't have to worry about all those pesky human needs like food and rest. (More time for anime! XD)

Well, if I end up totally obliterated like Robocop and my life depends on being transfered to a cybernetic system... Then. Hell. Yes. I'm okay with only my head being intact. Since I feel like putting your memories and emotions into a CPU or something won't be the same :l But after that I would probably go through intense training and help those in need! If I had to choose an age I would pick the age I currently have. Since I feel like I'm at my prime age and I have nothing holding me off (obesity, disease, etc)

As it stands now, I don't really have any interest in prolonging my life. Assuming that things were different, however, and I would prefer to live longer than I currently will, I wouldn't have any qualms with cybernetic parts. Computers are no where near being able to simulate or store the data that the brain does, but assuming that the capabilities of some future-computer were able to match it, I wouldn't mind the brain being replaced, either.

It would be really convenient to get cybernetic muscles that don't atrophy. And cybernetic lungs that work better than the original ones.

I wouldn't mind cybernetic limbs if i needed them, but i wouldn't want my brain messed with.

The fanciest technology advancement we, the people, have so far is our cellphone. And, we're still relying on fossil fuel to run our vehicles.

A sense of touch while having a mechanical body? C'mon, son. People are still on each other's neck if we should use stem cell or not.

Hollywood make it look good but in reality it's a bunch of paperwork before things get done.

First of all: you seem to think in a manner that says that "if we don't have it now, that means we will never have it".
That's not the case. If it was, we'd be stuck in the stone-age.
Just because we don't have something right now, doesn't mean we'll never have it.

Second: yes, we still use fossil fuels. And yes, that sucks, I agree. I hate it.
But it's not because we don't have the technology to use other sources of energy. We do. The reason we still use fossil fuels is all tied to politics, and nothing else. Not with technology.

Third: We actually already HAVE cybernetic limbs that provide a sense of touch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcKZZWF_hmU

So don't worry. It isn't science fiction anymore. It's actual science now.
The question now is only when that technology will be fully developed and when it will become commonplace. When it will reach a point where it is affordable for the every day person.

Yes. First I'd start off small, just a bit here and there. Then, once I start my evil plan I will go full on, amassing an underground cult of cybernetic humans to rage war on humanity. Within a year's time I'd be the ruler of Earth.
