"Yes, there is a conspiracy, indeed there are a great number of conspiracies, all tripping each other up ... the main thing that I learned about conspiracy theories is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in the conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic. The truth is, that it is not the Jewish banking conspiracy, or the grey aliens, or the twelve-foot reptiloids from another dimension that are in control, the truth is far more frightening; no-one is in control, the world is rudderless."

There are many reasons why moon landing denialists are off their rockers.

Chief among these is that given the technology of the time, it was actually easier to go to the moon for real than to fake it. Second, two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead, and for the landings to have been faked without that secret getting out would require hundreds. And that's before you get to debunking every single claim every made by a denier.

Wiki has a well-cited article on this crazy conspiracy theory.

Fair enough. It's not like I'm rocking backwards and forwards in a small room saying everything the government does is wrong or they are lying. But I don't like to think I'm a mindless drone existing for the sake of of rich elites who hold no interest in public affairs. I think it's good people speak out however far fetched it may seem. Take snowden for example. He brought truth to the public but media tried to villanise him.

I stopped paying attention to conspiracy theories. Most of them either don't make sense or as usual, look like idiots when the supposed doomsday comes and nothing happens cough cough Dec 21st 2012.

A lot of what these theorists say is just made to bring attention to it which is why they get shunned.

However a HUGE amount of these theories make complete sense to me, especially when backed up with evidence...

I'm in the middle. I think that conspiracy theorists sometimes have really good points, breadcrumbs and trails leading to their conclusion. At the same time, I think that there is no such thing as a conspiracy. There are powerful government entities in the world and they are so powerful that nothing is a secret, it's stuff that is truth, but they are so in control of keeping it locked down that it looks like a conspiracy. Basically, it would be difficult to prove these theories, so it's best to not categorize them as conspiracies and simply just go after the truth. Go digging as if it is truth and NOT conspiracy.

On the other hand though, I AM a big X-Files fan, so . . . "I WANT TO BELIEVE."

Yeah, if there's evidence backing a theory then I'll subscribe. The real problem is that the shady shit is happening right in front of our eyes and no one gives a fuck anymore.

it depends on the topic. for instance i believe there was a conspiracy with the 9/11 attacks. also believe certain cartoons were aimed at making kids dumb. deep down people have this ideology but dont know it

Conspiracy theorists are either shunned by others or embraced. Which side are you? Do you find Conspiracy Theorists to be "tin foil heads/hats" or they bring up theories that could be viable?

Depends on the Conspiracy and how deeply believed the Theory is.

I find some conspiracy theorists to be a little bat-shit crazy. Then others possibly plausible.

Conspiracy theorists are people who want to think that they are special, that they know some truth that regular people don't know. But all of their theories are based on hundreds or thousands or tens of thousands of people being in on it.
