If you were given the chance to create your own anime (And or Manga if you'd rather) would you add Fanservice to the show?

If so, why?

(And remember, Fanservice isn't just boob and panties galore. Males are given the Fanservice treatment as well!)

I don't enjoy watching animes with a lot of fanservice, so probably no..

For the humor element, yes. But I wouldn't go so over the top it would become an echii

If it's ironic and sort of mocks itself, then yes. I often find that trope pretty amusing.

I wouldn't likely do so but it depends on what kind of anime I'm creating. For example, if it was a comedy I could very well see myself including it for the same reasons the poster above me would.

No, it would serve no purpose in the story. People still find attraction to anime characters who aren't extremely sexualized anyway.

Dirty jokes on the other hand..

Fan-service is not just sexualization either. Take Durarara. Those random cameos or references to other titles (like the Spice and Wolf poster or calling Anri a Flame Haze) is also fan-service. Knowing that viewers want a character to punch another and then making it happen is also fan-service (like in the new Annie movie when Mr. Stack's assistant punches the PR guy).

For me, I would not have sexualized fan-service unless it is natural, aka the scene was not specifically set up for it. For example: if the male lead nearly drowns in icy water and the female lead rescues, resuscitates, and warms him through removing their wet clothing and body contact. Is that fan-service? No. She's saving that pathetic idiot's life, but the skin is still there for those who want it.

Even sex scenes can be well placed to make them natural. Taking the former example, if that evolved into a sex scene immediately, that would be gratuitous fan-service, and I would not want it. If that rescue was the final weight that tipped the scale leading them to have sex at a better place and time, I would be all for that. I would write that.

As for other types of fan-service, I would be all for it! Pop or otaku culture references. Cameos or insinuated cameos. I would slip those in left and right as long as it does not distract from the story I am trying to tell.

I dunno, maybe if it's done right. Like DxD is just fun to watch, and I love the opening/ending music and girls singing happily, makes you feel good.

i don't think fanservice is limited to secondary sex characteristics

making all the main characters good looking or cute for example is a form of fanservice in itself. instead of making the characters look the way their personalities should look like...
putting the characters into a box, e.g. making them tsundere or clumsy is a form of fanservice...

i wouldn't do this to my anime. i like to create things i'm inspired by, and at the moment i'm not inspired by sex or stereotyped characters.

Hell yeah! I think it's fun. I just would add enough, not too much. Like Hiro Mashima level.

If that's the case, then I think i'd end up loving your creation.

I dig that. It's a very logical way of going about it. Not to mention a more relatable and probable sexual intera between to characters.

I say, it's a lot better then what I see nowadays.
