Does anyone have any past experiences with this program?
I might apply once I finish my bachelors in a year or so.
So far I've watched many youtube videos, some very informative, others well... not so much.
I'd like you guys to please share your experience if you have had the opportunity to go to Japan!

I've heard that JET is really exclusive and you're more likely getting a job somewhere actually applying, but of course having a place to stay while you teach for a summer until you get a working visa for Japan is important unless you have a lot of money

There's a lot of videos on Youtube of people who went to Japan to teach English or whatever with nothing but a High School education and have integrated into their society fairly well without JET

I've seen a million videos over at Youtube with girls/boys telling their story.
Apparently you DO need a college diploma. A BA on something, so you can become eligible.
I'm not rich as to go on my own, find a place and stay a while... so It did sound like a wonderful Idea.

I visited Japan back in 2012 and had the opportunity to talk to two guys in the JET program. Additionally, a friend of my Dad's participated in it at one point.

From what I understand it's a good opportunity over all. It has its drawbacks, the pay isn't spectacular, but combined with the other benefits, is certainly livable. I myself am planning to apply when I graduate in the next year and a half. Basically, I'd say if you have the opportunity to do it, it's worth a shot.

That's really awesome! I'm trying to figure out the drawbacks, like living on a really rural place where they're a bit foreign phobic?
I saw a YouTube video about a girl who had that bad experience but It had nothing to do with the JET program: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUCoSTlDjGk

I wish you the best of luck, hopefully we can make it!

Hopefully we can make it! I think that as long as you are sure that you want to go, and are willing to adapt, than the drawbacks wont outweigh the positives.
