Things were indeed cruel during ww2. Like for instant the Nanjin massacre. Surely what they did there wasn't "necessary". I won't pretend like i understand the concept of war but from a civilian standpoint i would say everyone are to blame, but no one should hold on to the hatred because it belongs to a different time, done by different people.

Where is this thread coming from anyway? Has Japan been making a lot of public complaints about the bombs recently?

I feel like they owned up to WW2 stuff a long time ago already. In their own way. There have been some lackings with public apology for specific things such as comfort women and the nanking massacre that people complain about still. But I think they were pretty sincere in trying to embrace peace now over militarism. It doesn't look like it was done for show since they still have self imposed limitations in place on their military, even in a time when the US would probably just as well prefer otherwise.

This post just screams stupidity.... Of course they have a right to complain about it. its a fucking atomic bomb that devastated their nation AND fucked up the earths atmosphere. We are still feeling the effects of those two bombs to this day and many more years to come. As for everyone saying well the imperialists did war crimes and this and that why should they complain? Every nation in the history of mankind has done war crimes. The United States in killing german and japanese prisoners. Jailing Japanese americans for being japanese. Beating them to death for their hatred towards them. Germany killing the jews and executing Allied POWs, USSR the same thing towards germans and killing their own troops with stalins order to not retreat. Japan for sex slaves in china and south korea. No country is free of war crimes. Why do you think no country on earth wants to ever detonate an atomic war head ever again? But to the united states it was the only option that president had over an invasion of japan that they predicted well over 500,000 casualties, plus dealing with the USSR trying to grab all the land they could not caring what the allies thought (who knows world war three could have started just then with Russia?). It seemed like the only option. I sure as hell couldnt make a decision on that. But at least it will never happen again (or so we hope) so my final statement on this stupid subject? Yes they have a right to complain. they had to suffer many years of hardship, radiation poising, birth defects, and total build up two huge cities. Im sure if it happened to another nation it would be the same story.

exactly. Japan hasnt been at war since world war two and im pretty sure they apologized enough already. they know what they did and now they have totally different leaders in office with no thought of going to war (hopefully stays like that) why doesnt germany apologize every year for their role in the war? hell lets throw italy in there while we are at it psssh.

I live closer to bigger and more nuke explosions than Japan ever saw. It's OK, just don't pick up the glowing glass rocks and put them in your pockets close to your no-no zone.

right just like germany was banned from making a military in the treaty of versailles.... but you are technically right they cant officially declare war since its in their constitution (Article 9) HOWEVER United Nations allows them to have a defense military force and recently in 2014 they can help out their allies if need be.

They have the right to complain, especially about the hell nuclear fallout brings. Acting self-entitled about what happened over seventy years ago during a war, overlooking Japan's role, and then glossing over how their government and military did f*cked up shit is a different story. The latter is largely occurring because of their government insisting on deceiving their citizens (silencing is probably occuring, too); however, I've heard nary a thing about the Japanese being particularly sore about the bombs. Instead, I've repeatedly learned that they've mostly accepted it as a reality check against getting ahead of themselves, and other things along those lines. Henceforth, I see little reason to get worked up over something that isn't a issue in the first place.

it's not just because of the war crimes, but rather, because the government of Japan refuses to recognize and directly apologize for the war crimes, unlike the US, German, etc, which they did. Abe even denied[1] about the invasions during WW2, and insist comfort women were not forced to serve the military- they did it from their own will [2]. As you would expect, this angered China and S Korea.

America keeps complaining of 9/11, even after 10+ years, let Japan complain of the atomic bombs.

yes that is a huge problem with japan. Refusing to accept their history is ignorance. However its not the government as a whole. Recently the prime minister announced in his speech stating that they should not forget of all the wrong doings they did during that time period. (and they are so wrong for not teaching this in their school systems)

history classes tend to be biased in favor of the country in which the subject is taught, so i kinda understand why certain historical facts
are not brought into attention or just skimmed over. not that i agree with it.

I don't think they should complain. They were the aggressors in WW2. I fell bad for the civilians who were hurt and killed but if you are a citizen and your country is the aggressor, then you are complicit. That being said, I also think China should stop complaining about the Japanese war crimes as well. I get that it was very cruel but if you are going to complain about Japan being bad, then China needs to admit to all the atrocities they themselves have committed against their own people and the Taiwanese people. Also, it was over 80 years ago and if you looked at the past 80 years Japan has been a model international citizen while China has just been terrible in every way.

The people I feel sorry for are the Japanese Americans who were forced into internment camps. These people, many are citizens of USA, had nothing with Pearl Harbor or WW2 but were punished because of their race. Many of them lost their homes and all their possessions. They didn't deserve it. I have more sympathy for them than for the Japanese people who were killed/affected by the A bomb.
