Uh, it depends. I'm pretty sure it's morally wrong to eat any pet, regardless of species. But if it's a cat or dog specifically raised for consumption, I don't see how it is any worse than eating pigs or cows.

OP got that month long ban this time around lol.

I'll answer the topic question anyways though.
No it isn't wrong. Animals eat other animals. That's just the way things are. Sure it's odd to most of the world and frowned upon in a lot of places, but it's still not "wrong." Personally I wouldn't eat that because it would be weird for me.

I wouldn't, but they're animals..... Don't animals eat animals on a daily basis? What did you have for dinner last night? Probably a steak or baked chicken.

Yes because it goes against the norm. We are so used to seeing cats and dogs as pets. But, if my life depended on it, I'd probably kill and eat it.

What we eat depends on where we live/grew up and what's the custom there. I grew up knowing rabbits were pets and hadn't heard of anyone I knew eating them. I did ask once and the look on the adult's face said that was this was a distasteful/taboo subject. I've tried rabbit once in the UK. It was bland. I think for me rabbits will remain pets. Sis had one and we'd tease it threatening to put it in the pot and curry it. The rabbit grew nice and plump. She never got eaten.

I'd learned that dogs used to be consumed in the Caribbean in a time before Columbus showed up. People would keep them as pets but if times were hard, bye bye pet, hello food.

i don't see why it's wrong. as long as it's not someone's pet. and if you kill it in one swift strike.

there's nothing more upsetting than seeing a dog's whimpering in pain. i have so much sympathy for animals than humans, to be honest. humans can cry out in pain, some animals can't cry out in pain... like rabbits.

i felt so upset when my rabbit was sick, she was still trying to conceal her sickness... argh... bad memories. not good. i'm going to cry

Food is food. If it provides nutrients, then eat it - except humans. You can't eat other humans. That's not allowed.

They'd eat you if the situation presented itself so...

I don't think it's bad, I mean I don't know if I'd ever eat it.
But in the 1970s Jack-in-the-Box was caught
making burgers from horsemeat, how is that any different?

Is it wrong that we as a species feel that we have to be the apex predator? Why can't sharks, alligators, bears, etc. eat us without the news throwing a bitch fit and hunting the animal down?

Rabbits can scream. It was the rabbit screaming at night that saved her from a fox that tried and succeeded in getting her out of her hutch. Her owner came running so the fox dropped the rabbit and ran off. The rabbit was a bit hurt and extremely frightened. Up until that point we hadn't known rabbits could make so much noise. When the noise started it was thought something out there was hurt but no one suspected it'd be the rabbit.

From a moral perspective, I see it as wrong to eat animals you consider "pets" but at the same time I suppose it would look strange to someone from a culture that eats Dogs and Cats seeing these animals being kept as pets rather than food. In some cultures, cows are sacred and yet a lot of people eat Beef. So to those people, it would be wrong to eat those animals.

It really is all about cultural customs. What one culture finds disdainful, another finds acceptable.

To me its not wrong to eat any type of animal because considering the universal law of "kill or be killed" this shows that every other living thing is your prey or predetor. In this scense u are pretty much entitled to eat what ever is dead in front of you. Who cares weather its a cow, dog, cat or bird?

It's up to what you believe in.... for me it's not cool to eat something that's a pet but then again cows could be considered a pet.... uh er soooo i guess that would be the same if you look at it that way... but i still would'nt eat dogs or cats

Eating animals has been something humans have been doing for thousands of years. However, cats and dogs are domesticated animals that humans have been having as pets for thousands of years, as well. It is widespread how common cats and dogs are as pets and cats and dogs are the top two preferred animals to be owned as pets, too. So it is no surprise that cats and dogs aren't usually eaten and that is frowned upon. Being that cats and dogs are beloved pets to so many around the world and have been for a long, long time, you could say eating them is wrong. To so, so many people, such a thing is just terrible and heartbreaking. A lot of people don't even like that concept mentioned even jokingly!
