Ok, hope this is the right catagory for this.

I randomly saw an anime on a roku channel last year or so that was basically the book of John and Romans. It was nicely done, great pacing and ....... totally missed the actual NAME of the anime. All I know is that Viz had a credit at the end. I've been searching almost two weeks now, even emailing the people who handle Viz Media's sales, and no luck.

Anyone seen it? Or can recommend good Bible related anime that's not catholic?

I did some poking around on the internet out of curiosity, and came up with a few things:

There is a show about two kids and a robot who go back in time to witness Bible stories called "Superbook".

There is an anime retelling of various Bible stories called "In the Beginning -- The Bible Stories"

There is a manga called "Jesus" that tells his life story.

I should note that I've not seen or read any of those, and have no idea if they are any good. As for manga/anime with Christian themes that I've personally read/seen, the top two are:

Tokyo Godfathers: the best Christmas movie I've ever seen--both in terms of quality and in terms of demonstrating an understanding of Christian teachings.

The manga Orange House with a Little Roof (Orange Yane no Chiisana Ie) is written by a Japanese Christian and is clearly infused with Christian compassion and forgiveness.

Wrong? I didn't say anything is wrong with catholics. But I'm not catholic so catholic themed stuff isn't what I'm looking for because I'm Christian. Just like I'm not looking for anime that's hindu......yet. That actually would be a very fertile ground for the artwork at least now that I think on it.

Not much to talk about, really. They were step by step of John and Romans.

Are you sure it was an anime and not a western animation done in the anime style? Were the credits in Japanese or was it dubbed in that language?

If it was an anime do the art and animation styles match some other anime you could point to? This could help date the series if it resembles other anime of a particular period, e.g. 80s or 90s.

Roughly how long were the episodes and how many were there? A mini-series (5 or 6), a season (12-13), two seasons (24-26), etc.

Comes down to Biblical semantics but I'm really not in the want to start a debate here. The kudos for the saiyan.

Yes, I'm sure. It was Japanese with subs, couldn't see the animation house in the credits since it was on basic cable and they did the screen squish with the end credits. I've no idea how many episodes or seasons as it was just one episode split in half between Romans and John. There was a next episode preview at the end so it had at least one more ep.
