My current laptop is crapping out so I ordered a new one. It's an HP Omen, here are the specs:

- Windows 8.1 Pro
- 4th Gen Intel Core i7 (2.5GHz)
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 4GB
- 16GB RAM
- 512GB SSD
- Intel 802.11ac WLAN and Bluetooth, HP USB to Ethernet Adapter included
- 15.6inch WLED Backlit IPS Display (1920x1080), Touchscreen

Total: $2,099

What do you guys think, any good?

havent really kept up with computers, but the i7 sounds nice, as well as the ssd, tho 512 is kinda low for a harddrive. but the SSD might have better battary life, and i hear is super fast on xfers.
touchscreen... should make the screen less prone to phyiscal damage. capactive or resistive touch?

i crap on windows. hopefully 8.1 is better than that windows 8 POS.

sounds nice!

Nice specs, but I personally wouldnt pay that much for a laptop.

I have been considering picking one up though, or getting a new tablet. I absolutely cant stand the microsoft surface I have that I keep at work. Its not even as good as my cellphone

Yeah, my current laptop holds 1TB but it's a regular HDD. Hopefully the speed of this SSD makes up for it's lack of space. Whats the diffrence? Between capacitive and resistive touchscreens?

Yeah I didn't like Windows 8, but I didn't have the option for Windows 7 and I think 10 comes out next year or whatever, I can't wait that long. Anyway thank you

Yeah it's really pricey, hopefully it's worth it. If it craps out on me in like a year, I'm gonna burn down some HP buildings... lol

I heard the new Surfaces were pretty good? At least enough to run games like Battlefield. Personally though, I don't like tablets. I have one of those giant phones so I figure I don't need one.

That sounds awesome! You can most likely play GTA 5 at max settings! I've been slowly building a desktop for gaming but its a work in progress, not near as powerful as your laptop though. Though my uncle is like forcing me into using windows 7 with it, but i want windows 8.1 . i actually like 8.

It is, unless you need the mobility which I do... and how is building a PC more healthy for your body? Lol

If you got the dough, I suggest building one more powerful than my laptop or at least a PS4. You're wasting money otherwise, just my opinion.

This actually brings up my main issue with the HPs I've had. The fans are so flipping stupidly placed or weak. I had my last one melt my system, but not before it had spent 3 years making a sound like a jet taking off at all times.
its my foolishness for the ones I bought, but I'd suggest making sure you keep it raised on one of those fan bases when you're using it.

eh They might have changed. your computer sounds quite nice btw

EDit: OK I've mucked up this comment beyond recog. sorry about that

I'm not sure exactly how powerful a ps4 is, i did have one. Wellll so far i've got 8gb of ddr3 ram, 3 tb hdd, and i'm ordering a 4gb video card. I want an ssd just to put the OS on though.

Depends, if the refresh rate is 60hz is good for RTS or Few FPS, 120 or 144hz is suitable for Mobas and competitive FPS, you can achieve more if your laptop have a DisplayPort connector onboard to an external 144hz monitor.
