so, id like some one else view on this.
i just started reading war lord of mars: dejah thoris. saw the movie, loved it. started reading the book. loved it. started reading the comic by dynamite. kinda hate it.
its dejah. its not the running around neraly naked thing, thats okay. its her damn pose. its like shes a damn playboy bunny on a photo shoot. every single frame.

some one tell me, are most comics like this?

i can deal with panty shots and boob bouncing armor, this is kinda hard. its so....juvenile i guess is the world.

Most comics are not like that. Certainly not european comics anyway, which I prefer far more than american comics, generally.

Based on the cover, it's a fanservice comic. It's kind of fitting.

Dynamite is a fairly new company compared to the bigger ones (DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image), so they still have a mixed up feeling of what fans want at times. Their goal is to take classic comic/literature characters from before most of us were even born and to update them for the younger crowd/modern day. While it's a noble gesture, the mistake they keep making is putting sexy art over solid story. That's not to say Dynamite doesn't actually have some good/great books out there, they most definitely do. Over the last few years the big companies have gone away from the "good girl/bad girl" art and gone for stronger female characters instead (often written by fantastic writers who just happen to be women).

Of course manga has more over the top fanservice than western comics, but that's not to say there are no American comics that feature racy scenes, some I'm sure are influenced by manga and anime. I've noticed somebody mentioning Dynamite, who not only did the "John Carter of Mars" comics as well as "Red Sonja". Well has anyone ever heard of "Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose" by Jim Balent? It's publisher is Broadsword Comics and its loaded with softcore imagery.
