Oddly enough, there are shows that actually use the opening to mislead or trick the person into thinking something else entirely.. Madoka Magica comes to mind.

Shadow Star Narutaru is another one. Although if you ignore the happy tone of the music, and the kiddy-type graphics and pay close attention, it isn't as completely misleading as first appears.

The OP:

What they were talking about at the beginning:

As to Madoka Magica, I remember the first time I saw it, I thought, "How could people be mislead into thinking this would be happiness and light (even with the upbeat OP) if they paid attention to the very first scene"? Of course, I didn't see it until it came to CR, at which point everyone had been talking about it for a year, so I didn't have an uncolored experience of the first episode.

Yea I never really understood why people were surprised by how dark that show was, considering that first scene. However, I was in the same boat as you, where I watched it much later than most.

Always

Srsly. I even skip the end credits, the review of the last ep, and the preview for the next ep,

Typical anime show is about 15 minutes long with all that shit cut out.

Most of the time, yeah. I'm kinda picky about music in general. But it's been a while since I heard a good opening, and Death Parade had an opening I couldn't skip. I added that song to my playlist. Hell yeah.

I used to avoid listening to anime openings, but slowly I started letting them run. I believe the second opening for Kill la Kill was the first one I started to like... and then JJBA's "Sono Chi no Sadame" was the first song I fully listened to. As of now. I listen to all openings in hopes I can find a new song to add to my phone's playlist.

Pretty much
I wouldn't dare try to skip a opening on crunchyroll, in fear of me having to refresh multiple times to get it to work

I usually zone out or turn my brain off while watching the Openings, so I usually miss the spoilers. The only anime openings I skip are when I am marathoning a long running anime that never changed it's opening.

Depends on the anime I'm watching. I sometimes skip openings so that it can save me time.

On hulu... Fortune favors the quick. :P

If you skip the opening credits and start the video JUUUUUUUUUUUUST after the first ad block, you can usually skip the opening credits AND the first set of ads...

That's pretty much the same for me. It's bad enough I have to refresh it multiple times during one 23 minute show.

Anyways, I usually don't skip the opening, mainly because I"m not marathoning it. If I'm watching let's say 5 or more episodes of the same series. Then I might skip it, in the interest of saving time. Usually after a few episodes has past. I'll use the opening to surf the web and stuff.

I always watch them at least once. But if I'm watching a show that's already aired, I usually end up skipping them because I want to get back to the story as quickly as I possibly can. Nothing to do with the quality of the OPs in that case, just impatience.
