Post Reply Has any road rage driver ever followed you home?

Slam the breaks when people tail gate me, speed up when they try to pass me and if they cut me off I'll cut them off then slam on the brakes. I don't give a fuck if we get into a car crash, if we do it won't be my fault.

Now I usually try to 'be nice' on the road, let people pass me, go into my lane if they need to etc. But if you so much as go into my lane without your blinker on, it will be fucking on between you and me.

Sounds like you aren't a victim of road rage, sounds like you are a road rager. Not cool man.

I haven't had anyone follow me home, but my grandma has. She said this truck followed her until she got home and stopped in front of her driveway as she was pulling up. My granddad came out with a gun and the guy sped off. lol

I'm from Oklahoma and just recently I drove to Texas. Texas drivers are so much different than the ones here. lol TWICE I was going 10 over the speed limit on the highway and I had some guys speed past me and flip me off. The last one was driving probably just a few inches behind me for a long time and wouldn't pass me even when I slowed down so I thought he was following me.

It actually can very well be your fault if you slam on the breaks for no reason and someone hits you from behind. At the very least, you may be charged with contributory negligence or reckless endangerment. It's not the case that a rear ender will always be fully at fault.

An average convertible weighs about two tons. It is a fast-moving machine made of metal. More people are killed in car crashes than in wars nowadays. For all intents and purposes, treat a car as a deadly weapon. God knows I do. I've seen too many people smeared over the road and reduced to red goo. Sometimes, it just ain't worth it. Most of the time, actually. Even if nobody is hurt and you get away, you still have to fix your car and that's expensive. If you're not paying for it, someone else surely is. It's best not to insist on your right of way if you can avoid damage this way. You lose a few seconds. So what? You hardly save time and money by going to court or by going in for repairs.

a drunk road rage driver followed us once, we led him to a gas station then he got out of his car and followed our truck on foot around the station we called the cops as it would be a perf opportunity to catch him all they said was to ditch him

I deliver pizzas and I've only had one situation where someone's roadrage caused them to follow me back to the store.
Apparently, my tailgating (due to someone tailgating me) freaked her right out and she had kids in the car and there was a policeman in front of her and blah blah blah I could have gotten you fired blah blah.
If I could murder that woman, I would.

Oh god, this is my worst nightmare. I have a story to share that still haunts me to this day. This happened a couple years ago.

It was night time, and I was with my dad, who was the driver. There was a person in front of us going slower than the normal speed limit. My dad has terrible road rage, but he would never follow anyone home. But the person in front of us, slow as a slug, slams on his breaks all of a sudden and my dad honks, almost rear-ending him. Now I shouldn't fail to mention there was only one lane, so we couldn't pass them.

Now my dad is shouting, red up to his ears. Once we reach a stop light, the guy gets out of his car, to shout at my dad. And my dad's like "What are you going to do? Fight me? You were the one going 10 MPH on a 40 MPH road, you moron!" or something along the lines of that. My dad's kind of an intimidating guy; he's broad, has an impressive lumberjack beard, and is 6 feet tall. So the guy stopped mid-tracks, and spun on his heel to get back into his car. He was pretty angry, still.

To our relief, after we passed this intersection, the roads split off into two lanes, so my dad sped up ahead of him, and cut him off. But now the guy who is now behind us, miraculously (but also horrifyingly) speeds up. When my dad turned into our neighborhood, the guy was right behind us, so my dad basically was going 60 MPH in a residential area to get away from this guy. My dad even had to turn off his headlights and pull into someone's driveway. It was awful. The guys car passed us a couple of times, cruising along the road. All I could think was "What was this guy going to do if he found us?" I was in tears at this point, and my dad called the police when we got home.

Just... What is wrong with people? Do people really feel personally offended if they make a few mistakes in traffic and someone calls them out on it?

They wouldn't get that far, I'd go for a spin on a roundabout and turn it around.

Closest I've been to that situation is when a guy was driving erratically and tailgating me. I was doing about 35mph in a 25. I saw a cop sitting on a side street (in plain sight) so I started to slow to the speed limit.

The dude apparently had enough at that point because he blared his horn and gunned it past me on a double-yellow at close to fifty while waving his middle finger - right in front of the cop. He made it all of 50 yards before he was pulled over. That's karma for you, I suppose.

If I was being followed aggressively and concerned for my safety I'd call the cops and keep driving till I reach the station or wherever they direct me to. As others have said, stopping and getting out is just asking for trouble.

Road rage like that's never made sense to me. I mean, I get annoyed at other drivers all the time, but I never take their driving as some kind of egregious personal insult. Most I'll do is curse and make some loud assumptions to myself about your family's breeding practices.

What I wonder is what goes through a road rager's mind that makes them so... aggressive...

Yeah, I had a road-rager follow me through a residential area where I lived. I kept driving till he gave up chasing.

It all started about a mile back because he couldn't make a left turn through some busy traffic. He was at the front of a long line holding up traffic for a couple minutes. And when he finally made it through I followed him very closely through the turn so I wouldn't have to wait for more traffic to pass. So he was pissed off at the traffic and me. We happened to take the same right turn into the residential area and he pulled over waiting for me to pass, then the rage ensued. Afterwards I considered keeping a weapon in the car for next time. But, I thought it over and driving seems to be the best option. Drive away in the opposite direction or the local PD if you feel safe with cops...

edit: A somewhat similar incident of an angry peerson. Some hunter got pissed off at my dog for scaring away some deer. He threatened to kill my dog if it happened again. And he had brought his rifle to threaten us... I hate that guy.

Was driving my kids home from school today and this car behind kept honking and tailgating me for 7 or 8 blocks until I was near my house. I could see from the rearview mirror that the driver was shouting and gesturing and looking very annoyed. The speed limit on the street was 35 mph at one point and 25 mph at another point, and I was driving 5 miles faster than the speed limit because I didn't want him to follow me too close and get into an accident. I stopped twice to let him pass but he stayed behind me, so I drove past my house and finally he passed me and gave me the finger. On the back of his car was a big sticker that read "NOTW" so I assume he is a very devout Christian. He didn't look like a thug or a gangbanger.

Has these situations ever happened to you? What would you do in these situations? I thought about following him to his home to ask him the reason for his hostility but decided not to risk the safety of my kids.

Four simple steps for dealing with guys and gals like this.

1. Pull into a gas station, if one is nearby. Someplace with cameras about bank parking lots work as well.
2. Lock up the car. This could be step one as well.
3. Get the persons plate number.
4. Call the cops.

Let the cops talk to him about his behavior.
