My favorite anime (Macross) has always fused Mecha and Music quite well.

AKB0048, did this good as well

What are some other anime that have fused mecha and music into a good anime?

Eureka Seven is the one that comes to mind; mecha combat, and the creator of the show is clearly heavily into the music scene, with a lot of subtle references to various bands, songs, and albums (particularly the Beastie Boys).

I tried it, but You-Wreck-A-7 just didn't so it for me....

Will try Symphogear again...can't remember why I stopped watching.

Cross-Ange looks interesting

Aldnoah Zero (although I had some problems with the ending) was a good mecha anime with an amazing soundtrack. M3 the Dark Metal, Line Barrels of Iron, and Buddy Complex all pretty much fit the bill too. I'm still shocked none of the streaming sites here have Macross Seven, Macross Zero or Macross Frontiers, especially since the new series was just announced in Japan recently.

You can thank Harmony Gold for that.

Maybe /Valvrave?

Unfortunately, I have no doubt you're 100% right on the Harmony Gold call. It seems the same sort of situation that got Speed Racer X cancelled over here (the lawsuit that got it pulled off of cable tv just a handful of episodes in).

Harmony Gold....the lowest form of life in anime!

Tentacle monsters strive to hit the level of degenerate that Harmony Gold is!

Seeing some Mecha animes here that are good, but Mecha plus OP/ED doesn't make it Mecha and MUSIC :)
