If Greece had actually asked for those war reparations, like, right after the World War II was over, I would have considered that Germany should have paid them. But, asking that right now?

Didn't Germany bailout Greece a few times already?

Germany's already done a ton in terms of war reparations, apologies...public education on the subject (teaching it in schools, making movies, etc. etc.)...

Germany doesn't need to do any more. Greece just wants more money, that's all. Germany has apologized time and time again, and done plenty to very much to turn itself around from its not-so-glory-days, and from such a severe time at that.

Germany owes nothing to anyone.

Now if only certain other countries could follow in Germany's footsteps...

Germany will pay Greece war reparations for Nazi occupation again, with about the same likelihood as the British museum repatriating the Elgin marbles.

Well since long ago Persia fight against Greece I would not be surprised if they were not targeted next for war reparations. Even better Sparta and Athens could make a go at it again, or have whoever was the loser in the past get paid by the winner. Which then would make them the winner so then they would have to pay the loser... stuck in a progressive if-then loop.

Think about haw many wars have been in the past, and who can blame who for winning against them and wanting reparations now.

Then again I think about the Greek influence on Rome which went about, how to say this nicely, building roads throughout Europe. Which in turn advanced groups enough to be able to cause world wars. So by that one could say Greece owes reparation or consider this part of the great circle.

Mind you that most video games are about destroying, defeating, and looting for treasure.

I think Greece should take responsibility and finally rebuild Troy after all these years.

That's like Greece demanding Germany pay reparations for having installed German royalty as rulers of the Kingdom of Greece when it gained independence from the Ottoman Empire. Greece would be better off demanding an end to fiat currency.

No at this point its daft and clearly a political stunt. I think there is a case to be made for supporting Greece financially among the countries of the Europe in exchange for more centralized management of EU fiances however and currently the UK and Germany do seem best placed to provide that support.

No.

Imagine every country demanding payment from others for wars that have happened more and more into the past.

That is what war is. Unless the attack was so savagely one-sided and atrocious and basically amounted to human butchery, I don't even think reparations are warranted. And the length of time cannot be too great. I'd feel more comfortable requiring the same people who made those decisions to pay for their crimes, not forcing the burden of their crimes onto their heirs who don't know and haven't done anything.

The people who directly suffered are gone. The people who directly were involved are pretty much all gone.

They should have got their reparations at the end of the war with everyone else. Greece is just trying to get out of its crazy debt load by trying to get Germany to forgive Greece's debts to it. Under-handed, I think.

UNLESS - IF (a very big IF) - IF Greece and Germany had, by chance, a war reparations agreement that said something along the lines of, "IF we ever end up owing you a ton of money, then we can collect war reparations to cancel our debt to you. THEN (a very improbable THEN) Greece would be in their rights to do just that, and Germany should then be held to the terms of such an agreement.

Now that fantasy treaties has ended, let's get back to real life and say. No. Greece can't claim that.

Country's don't have to account for what they did in the past they can say "We are not like that anymore" but if you committed murder don't expect the same mercy.
