Yeah, my mom loves her Superman and superhero comics. She's obsessed. Fell in love with them well before we immigrated to the States. She's a total nerd, but will never admit it. Also liked Star Trek and other syfy things. And Hollywood musicals - oh boy, Hollywood musicals.

Well, my mom introduced me to anime. And my dad introduced me to video games, comic books, etc. star wars, and star trek as well. (Kinda drifted away from them, but they'll always be close to my heart.)

He's also a computer programmer, and I thought about going into that as a career, too. The only thing I can't be converted to is Doctor Who.

So yes, I'd say it runs very strongly in my family.

About the only thing that runs in my family is accident prone and artistic ability.

Everyone in my family is really good at obsessing over their hobbies, so I guess so.

I'm the only geek in the family, some of my other family members have tried, but they lacked the obsession, the drive and overall lack of shame that is required

My dad played some D&D back in the day and likes video games, but that's the only geekiness. He's more of the cars and sports type of guy, overall, and everyone else is non-geek as well.

Hardly.

My father is a retired Colonel and my mother has wanted to play music for a living. Oldest brother is a crew chief, and my younger bro wants to teach music, so they're following in my parents' footsteps. My older sister is an elementary school teacher, and she's already picked on me plenty of times - well before I got into anime. Aunts/Uncles/Cousins are also completely clueless about what I'm into.

The closest person I can relate to geek/nerd culture would be my other older brother, who is huge into Superman, Marvel comics, and all that other good stuff. On the anime front, the only two he ever truly cared about would be Robotech and DBZ, although he has mentioned to me that he's seen other series.

Not that I need anyone in my family to understand me - why do you think I'm visiting random forums on the web?

Not really. I got into anime from my brothers who got into it by my cousin. My parents don't even know what anime is and sucks at using technology.

More than some, but less than others.

My dad is really into old video games and old comics, and my mom is involved enough that she doesn't seem totally oblivious to it. At least she knows who Mario is.

My brother is the main reason I'm so involved in anime and video games. I still remember early morning anime when I was really young, and trying to stay up late enough to watch the random episodes of DBZ playing late at night. My brother's the one who taught me the kamehameha.
