It's a much needed escape for me. To come to an empty home after a long day of work, throw on the headphones, power on my Vita, and go to a world where people are friendly and genuinely care about each-other is much appreciated. If done correctly (not nearly enough) some shows and manga can even give me hope in humanity until I have to go back to it in the morning. It suspends my disbelief for an hour or two where I can be in these characters classrooms lollygagging without a care, or I can go on some grand adventure to thwart evil, or simply watch a certain orange ninja grow up into a capable, reliable, loving young man. Its just a better place to be all around.

I'm not one of those people who claims: 'OH! Anime has changed my life! I'm so much of a better person now!' but it has certainly impacted me slightly. I was looking for a new hobby and Anime filled that gap. Also, I oft watch anime whilst doing Homework, so it helps me stay sane while doing a million word essay I suppose.

I wouldn't have met my current boyfriend if it wasn't for anime, so yeah.. It has impacted my life a lot indirectly.

Not great actually. I love it don't get me wrong. Anime is starting to keep me away from my social life.

Aside from the massive amounts of time sunk into watching it, I don't think there's been an anime that has really impacted my life. Of course there have been plenty that have given me something to think about and consider, like Kokoro Connect, but nothing really life changing.

Anime has allowed me to save a hellava lot of money on my cable bill. I watch a fair bit of anime which accounts for most video that plays on my TV that is not Netflix or Youtube. After the first two years of anime watching I'm realizing that I spend far less time watching any other kind of TV. I work 45+ hours a week and am either playing catchup on anime or working, so I don't really care to watch much TV. Another thing anime has done is allow me to watch new anime year round. TV seasons last 12-24 episodes spread out over six or so months. Anime is always new and when that's over there's the next new season about a week later. Good stuff.

For me I started to watch it because my older brother did and I looked up to him, I was around 5 or 6 then. I would secretly watch Pokemon at night because I knew he liked that one Then I quit watching until I was about 11 or 12 and thats when the obsession started. Anime has a huge influence on my life now because I've made a great many friends through anime and even though it sounds silly it has helped me through tough times. It just never fails to make me happy when I watch a good anime

I started ACTUALLY watching anime around 2 years ago and I probably wouldn't be as happy as I would be right now if I didn't

It's been interesting. It got me into figure collecting and I've made a lot of really great friends through that hobby (as well as making me more excited about going to the convention I go to every year and giving me some really cool opportunities - I used to absolutely hate anime conventions and honestly I still hate the small ones).

Really this has been the hobby (figures) and interest (anime) that's stuck with me the longest out of anything I've ever done in my life so far besides video games and science fiction novels (which I've been into since I was really young). When I was younger I'd jump into something and then be bored with it within a year or two, but I've stuck with anime for about ten years now and figure collecting for seven, and I'm not getting bored with either. It's almost pathetic how much these hobbies define me as a person, but I feel like I'm doing well in life and this is what makes me happiest.

I don't want to make it seem like it's had a tremendous impact but it's definitely accelerated the change in how I interact with others. I always used to judge people who watched anime and they were the "nerds/outcasts" as i wanted to conform and not be judged myself. I had always loved fantasy books and video games and science fiction but i hid that part of my life.

I was seeing this girl and she asked me if I watched anime. I scoffed at the notion. Me? A twenty year old athletic male? hell no. I go to the gym and play lacrosse and go to the bar. I'm not one of those people. But i tried watching an episode of a show here on crunchy roll, Sword art online to be exact. And i fell in love with the world and the story and realized how could I have been judging people for this. How could I judge people for something I had never experienced.

So anime has helped me be just a bit more open to other possibilities. To not judge someone on their interests.

Also, great video by will wheaton that helped convince me that I shouldn't hide my interests and should appreciate others'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_BtmV4JRSc

It's one of the little things in life that helps relax me. It's more than just something to pass the time, and I have seen some anime that have had a more profound impact on me than other series (though this is true of any medium of storytelling), but I wouldn't say it radically changed my life as whole, but rather is something that helps me to enjoy my day to day life a little bit more.
