I have been wondering this for a while. In SAO, Aihiko Kayaba have immortal object flash above his head when his health would go below the yellow? Doesn't he know that would give away his identity? Plus, he does not want to be found out until the final (100th) floor, because he is supposed to be that floors boss? Couldn't he just make it so that Immortal Object doesn't flash above his head because then Kirito would never have found him out. Please resolve.

Hm, not really a site support question, so I moved this over to anime, but it may be more of a chit chat issue..

Anyway, in my opinion, Kayaba wanted to be found out. His whole intent was to be the final boss, so an earlier reveal wasn't a problem, really. Not to mention, only one user figured it out.

Besides, as a programmer, I can also see it. He managed to keep an MMO running for 2 years with no crashes or other major bugs.. pretty amazing. Listing his status window when hit correctly was probably low priority.

Thanks that is pretty helpful. Also, sorry about listing this as a support question, that was a complete accident!!!

Kayaba was not the only developer of the game. Lots of people helped make it. Once inside he couldn't change anything in the game's coding anyway. He could change things into mortal or immortal objects using his admin account, but removing the message entirely would require more than that.

Lets be honest, this is probably the most unrealistic part of the series.

Bad writing.

If something seems contrived in SAO, it is because it is contrived. There was a guy who went on an hour long rant pointing those things out here ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uON7ANNOi4

My advice to people who want to enjoy SAO is, ignore contradictions and plot holes, because there are a lot. Just pretend they don't exist.

Here, Kayaba put the immortal object thing above his head because... he was careless. Honestly, Light from Death Note's down fall was because he was careless, and Walt from Breaking Bad friggin left incriminating evidence on his fucking... toilet... again carelessness. No one seems to be able write a genius's downfall without it being carelessness, so there you go. Kayaba = Genius = Careless = Downfall.

Contradictions? Just remember that anytime you bring reality into anime a cat girls dies
