My sister likes to follow in my foot steps and thus ended up liking anime. There are many anime that I would not like her to watch that are WAAAAY too mature and sometimes twisted that she should not watch at her age, so I decided to watch anime with her. It also brings a smile to her face when I watch anime with her and I want to set an example for her on how to consume anime and look at each one's philosophy and either reject it or accept it.

I have ran into a problem however, most of the anime that I enjoy can have those occasional ecchi moments or are just too dark for her.

So far I have watched Naruto and have watched Sword Art Online with her. I reeeeeaaally want to watch FMA Brotherhood with her, but I don't want to like scar her or something. I also want to be able to watch an anime I have never seen with her without feeling really nervous.

Any ideas on the next anime we should watch?

I agree with BigChocolate. My 8 year old cousin loves Sakura and her outfits.

I've moved this over to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum. I don't have a specific suggestion (except I think everyone should watch Tonari no Seki-kun, and it happens to be suitable for all ages.)

For other ideas on things to watch that are appropriate for children I suggest visiting asharka's "Rotten Sushi" group. There's a tag there specifically for children's shows on CR: /group/Rotten_Sushi/pages?extra_param=8590018175

I watched Shingeki No Kyojin with my 12 year old sister last year (or the year before, whenever SnK ended) But then again, my sister is extremely mature for her age in terms of her intelligence and maturity so she really enjoyed SnK.

Now shes a full fledged otaku lol.

I'm gunna second Tonari no Seki-kun, that show is hysterical.
Little witch Academia its only one episode, but its great.
Inferno cop mabye?
Squid Girl great slice of life, it is kinda long though.

Shugo Chara might be worth a look. I haven't watched all of it yet but the main characters are in elementary school, so the chances of something unsuitable popping up are minimal. From what I have seen so far it has a similar feel to Card Captor Sakura.

Those are pretty tame for a 12 year old.

Darker than black is a good one , it's action , not perverted , just a bit in the second season which a lot of people don't like and season one finished pretty we'll so it's not important to watch season two but I would anyway ( and twilight is worse than season two ... I can't believe I had to use that as a reference ... )

Boku no Pico.

In all seriousness though, I'd like to second the recommendation for Little Witch Academia. There's no fanservice or sexual comedy and it's arguably marketed more towards children -- at least moreso than the other recommendations I've seen in this forum and recognized. At the same time individuals of older age groups have come to enjoy it; such as Demolition-senpai, who informed many people of it with his positive review.

"It's something that you can show to your nieces, or cousins, or something and that's a lot more than you can say about most anime. I showed Valvrave the Liberator to my nieces, it was a bad move, they are now serial rapists."
----Demolition-senpai.

(Unlike the anime, the review is probably not suitable towards your sister.)

Best of luck in your search.
