Hunting has a large part with population control with animals. That I'm okay with. Can't have too many rabbits running around.

As for trophy hunting, I find it just as wasteful as NASCAR or racing.

Do I want to hunt? Fuck no. I'd be an awful hunter and chances are it'd make me feel like a horrible, disgusting excuse for a human being. Am I fine with other people hunting though? Sure.

As long as it's in moderation and isn't damaging the population then I see no problem with it. It's not as though not hunting them means they'll live a long and happy life -- they'll just get eaten by a predator or go on to hunt prey themselves. Not only that but it's sometimes necessary to prevent overpopulation in certain areas.

The circle of life has and always will exist. Every scenario is different and in nearly every circumstance it will not be nearly as black-and-white as you may think it to be. After all, they say the world comes in shades of grey.

Anyone who throws out what they got from a hunt, however, is a bastard. If you're going to hunt down animals then put them to use. Don't just kill them and then discard their corpse like it's nothing.

If you eat meat and have a problem with hunting...the logic with that is pretty messed up. Feedlot raised cattle or commercial chicken operations are normally operated under horrible conditions for the animals. When a deer or the like is taken in the woods, it's had a free life, bred, lived. I feel less guilt from hunting than I do from eating commercial meat.

That said, I think that if you eat meat, at some point in your life you need to hunt. It's easy to waste food, take for granted that some living creature had to die so you can have that burger if you don't have to have an active hand in it's death. When you hunt, you have to look into the eyes of the creature you killed, acknowledge that you only survive through the death of another. You never waste meat again, unless you're a sociopath. I butcher my own kills too, and what I don't personally consume, i give to my dogs or cats to eat.

People pay big money to trophy hunt in Africa ...which provides a boost to the local economy ...which gives people a vested interest in protecting the animals and their habitat - trophy hunting is a GOOD THING.

Humans alter their environment like beavers building dams, only on a much larger scale. We have altered much of the Earth to the point where you can't really rely on natural processes to function as they should. Hence hunting for population control is necessary to prevent say, deer eating so much at the beginning of winter that there isn't enough food to keep any of them alive until summer. It prevents rampant disease from piles of corpses that result from infighting or starvation. It is definitely necessary.

As to endangered species, there are endangered trees that they have begun to raise on farms. To pay for the upkeep and maintenance (which donations barely touch) they harvest and sell some of the trees for their exotic wood. This provides enough money to save the trees by continuing to care for the population and plant more. Win win. Something similar could be achieved with some endangered species. If the population can handle some hunting and you sell a one day licence that only lets you bag one for say 10k-30k, the funding can go to preserving habitat, caring for the animals (veterinary), and preventing poaching. Obviously this won't work for a species that has too few members left, but it could generate crazy funds to help care for some species.

I'm fine with hunting so long as it is responsible. Don't kill more than what is sustainable for the population. Don't engage in unnecessarily cruel practices. Conserve habitat to maintain healthy and sustainable populations. I eat fish, beef, pork, chicken, etc. If you eat any of those and you are against hunting you're a hypocrite, no getting around that. I see responsible hunting as a good thing for maintaining balance and as a means to generate funds to help conservation and sustainability. I do not care for people who only hunt for trophies. I don't think that should be banned, but I disagree with it and do not condone it. Now if you kill an animal for the trophy and also eat the meat, I can be fine with that. I don't like wasting usable material from something you kill.

As long as you are not hunting an endangered animal, doing so legally, doing so humanely, and don't waste meat, I have no problems with it.

Hunting, in the hunter-gatherer sense, is fine--just don't over-do it or be wasteful. Doing it just for sport, not cool at all.

There is psychological study data related to this. In order to boost conservation efforts you really need to create a sense of ownership (i.e. "our elephants"). With proper advising and training this can result in local tribes or communities finding a vested interest in caring for and protecting a local animal population. It requires a more formalized structure than just allowing trophy hunting. As mentioned in my previous post high priced licenses will allow for funds to better equip locals to care for their indigenous species. Whether that be by owning land, buying weapons to thwart poachers, consulting experts, or hiring lawyers. It also ensures that the risk to the animals is kept low enough in proportion to the funds brought in.

I am pro-Hunting. I don't like guns. I just hate animals.

I stole that from someone... Who was the comedian who said something like :

"I am pro-Life. I don't really like babies, I am just uneasy about thought of giving women the ability to choose."

people apply a human morality to animals, I disagree with this. But we should atleast be efficient on how we go about things

trophy hunting is dumb, anyone who does it is dumb. this being said, any form of trophy is dumb. because it's a waste of resources.
Trophy hunting is just to feed some sort of ego desire which is a un-desireful way to live.

Anyone that's pro-tophy, you're dumb, any argument you provide is dumb,

Tl;dr trophys=dumb
