I enjoy hunting, but I eat what I kill unless I am acting in self defense. Even then, if what I killed tastes good, I'll butcher it and eat it. There's nothing wrong with responsible hunting. Senseless killing is another story.

I'm from Wisconsin and grew up in a family that hunting is like a tradition. My dad was never into trophy hunting (obviously he was ecstatic if he did shoot a trophy animal, but it was never his intention). My dad only had daughters so he introduced us to hunting at a young age but he made sure to teach us that it was a means for filling the freezer. With all of that being said, yes, I am more than okay with hunting as long as it is for the right reasons. Hunting just to shoot a trophy and then not eat it or donating the meat is a complete waste.

That is a scenario I had not considered for trophy hunting. Donating the meat would also make it acceptable to me. Every good hunter I know makes it a point to be involved in conservation and while they may gripe about the fees involved for licensing, they pay them and they know where they go.

I believe in hunting for food or survival (like when the bear tried breaking into my cousin's cabin), but in all honesty I find hunting for sport a bit sociopathic.

I hate trophy hunting, i think it is pathetic and just the ultimate form of brutality and cruelty. Of course you will kill any animal if you have the superior weapons like guns and rifles. If you can kill a lion with your bare hands, props to you, other than that it doesn't make you a stronger person or anything. The people that trophy hunt are one of the few people i utterly hate.
