So, I just got some money working at a convention. Where do I spend it and what do I spend it on?

Anime, video game, etc. merch are all welcome. I just need to know what I want and what I should buy.

You need a Magic 8 Ball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_8-Ball), so you can ask it whether you should buy other items you see on your travels.

Question: "Magic 8 Ball, should I buy the 10 inch model figure of Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion?"

Answer: "As I see it, yes."

Question: "Should I really be relying on the opinion of other people I have never met to tell me what I do and do not like to buy?"

Answer: "Outlook not so good."

I think it all depends on how much you value items and what you think you can get out of them. Some people really enjoy to collect figures, or love to cover their walls with posters and wall scrolls. Then there are people who like to buy mouse pads where the wrist cushion is their waifus chesticles.

I do not condemn any of the above, its all about what makes you happy. I personally don't really buy a whole lot of anime merchandise. I will see something cool, then think "well what the hell am i going to do with it...." then i just dont end up getting it. I don't take the enjoyment of having shelves full of my favorite characters that others do.

I buy things that i can get a lasting value out of. Mostly shirts, but I am also a Gundam fan, so on occasion I'll buy a model kit. Gives me hours of something to do, can customize it and when i look at it i know i created it, to a certain extent. Then the rest of my money goes into games ect.

So before you go out and spend a balls ton of money on merch, think about what you can surround yourself with that would make you happy! Hope this helped push you into a correct direction man.
